Bella doesn't want to step on the grass anymore... Hi In the past few weeks I noticed that Bella doesn't want to step on the grass in our back yard . I take her out and she is standing on the deck. She will even hold herself from going because of that. I haven't sprayed anything on it and my other Yorkie is ok with stepping on it. Any idea what might cause this? PS - she will step on other grass areas as usual. Thanks |

Joel went through a phase like that, he used to always go in the front yard and then just wouldnt go on the grass, now he mostly likes the back yard. And of course he hates going on wet grass. |
My Bella doesn't like the grass either. I think it is because she has really short legs and the grass touches her belly and it doesn't feel good. |
Maggie doesn't like going into the grass if it's very tall or if it's even a little bit wet. She will do all her business on the patio! Oh well, could be worse I guess. |
Is the grass taller there??? Mine HATE tall grass. Louise |
Thats funny, Joel is opposite. The taller the grass the more he likes it hehe. He doesnt like short grass bc it's more pokey. |

I thought that maybe its because she can smell a lot of her pee pee there? |
Has she been stung by a bee back there maybe |
Have you tried carrying her into the yard, sitting with her in your lap, and seeing what she does from there? Might be worth a try. |
It sounds like she has associated something bad with the grass. Maybe she lay down in it and got stung by ants or bitten by something. Or a little stick poked her & scared her. It sounds like something happened when she was in the grass that had her fearful of it, thinking if she goes back in it she might get hurt or scared like that again. Unless she was really traumatized, she will likely put it behind her after a time. How is she doing with the grass now? |
