I'm bracing myself.... *%^@! Freaking Issy! God god, Yorkies are quick! Try as I might, I can't always get there fast enough. I feel like I spend most of my time just trying to keep this puppy from killing herself. Last night we were sitting on the patio when my neighbors 15lb cat walks into the yard. Gabby just sat on my lap and growled but Issy jumped off Dh's lap and proceeded to pick a fight with it. Dh scooped her up, took her inside and put her in the ex pen. He didn't even make it to door when she came barreling past him. I've been telling him she jumps out, but he didn't believe me. 3 times he put her in and all 3 times she was right back out after the cat. That ended with her having to be locked in her kennel for the night. Then, this morning, sure enough, my Dh dropped about a half a wafer of an oreo on the floor and just as fast as lightening, she comes running through and scarfed it up. My vet said it wasn't enough chocolate to be toxic but she might not be feeling so crash hot from eating it later. Sure enough, the effects are starting to kick in. She's already begun that glazed over look and laying around as though she's not feeling well. In fact, instead of going to the ex pen, she prefers her kennel. Normally, she won't stay in there unless the door is locked. I suspect the runny poo will kick in here soon and continue for a few days. He dropped the cookie. He can clean it up. Any suggestions on how to minimalize this one? I am NOT looking forward to going through this again. I went through something similar with Gabs when she was younger. |
I am glad your pup is ok. Yes, those little ones are so quick. |
Geez, they are quick aren't they? |
It's too late now but when a pup gets something that you think may upset the stomach it is a good idea to give it some of it's regular food along with it. That will help to make the effects of the cookie or whatever less because it mixes in with a larger amount of food that the body can handle. It is kind of like diluting the effect. The Oreo is made with dark chocolate so it could be quite upsetting. I spent most of Gracie's first year protecting her from herself. She gave me so many scares. She is 2 now and many of the bad habits have dropped off and she is not as dominate as she was although she still thinks she runs the place. I guess the terrier traits are part of what makes them so unique. Never a dull moment.;) |
yes they are quick/ we had an ordeal with morgan getting my other dogs medication/ he is okay thank god but he is very quick |
Sounds like my Miss Priss at times. she is lightening quick and what is weird she will be so calm for a few days and then just go hooty wild. She keeps us on our toes. Glad that your baby will be ok... |
What goes in must come out. That little oreo sliver tore her digestive system from one end to the other. Looks like she's going to be spending the next few days in the ex pen so the mess will be easier to clean up. I've already washed poo off her twice today. WHY is chocolate so irresistible to a dog? I'm gonna blame this on DH. If he wouldn't "share" food with them all the time they might not be so inclined to scarf up stuff from the floor. |
