I hope your search through other channels works out well. |

thanksI am so lucky that I saw what was happening before I lost money! I haven't used cl in a couple of years.. I just did not realize how bad it is now. I remember when I though we were going to have to move before I bought this house I was looking for a place to rent. About 30% of the adds I saw or replied to were possible scams.. but this time I would say it is 100% I just feel so bummed about that..how many people do get scammed? I did report to paypal and found an internet fraud site to report it too. I think I found a place throug the a legit vaction rental site.. :) |

my youngest dd works for the man who owns a percent of the hyatt chain so she gets a nice discount.. so it would be about the same price to rent two rooms at the hyatt and to rent a vacation rental that has two bedrooms... either would be great! And at the hyatt I would know I wasn't being scamed lol |

Wow, I can't believe her response! Amazing... |

I'd suggest VRBO - we've had luck through that before and you can often find pet friendly places. Also, look for local realty companies, then, check them out through the BBB. Good luck and congrats for not getting scammed. Think about how many innocent, hard working people lose $ to this kind of stuff all the time. |

Wow craigslist is scary. I just told my DH about this thread because he was going to go there for a performance bike |

If it seems to good to be true it is... Thats usually how you can spot a scam on there. |

Craigslist is very scary, I have sold a few things on Craigslist but I am always very specific for local sales only, cash only, will meet in a puplic place and make the transactions. I have also used VRBO.com and have had GREAT results. I rented a place in Destin for a few days and honestly the pictures did not do the house justice. Have fun and enjoy your vacation. |

I know the scams on the internet well. I got taken in a puppy scam from some add on ebay. From now on I stay far away from the internet for any deals on anything. I lost about $3700. |

I'm glad you did your research. Very scary. I hope you can find a nice place. |

We got scammed also in key west!! In may we wanted to go to key west fo a few days. Tried to reserve from craigslist and ran into same problem! Had to research the home in Truman annex wasn't even hers. When I googled address found more folks scanned. She was reluctant to provide address and wanted 500 up front. We scrapped our plans and went elsewhere. What a shame this is going on. |
