This video proves that miracles do happen. He still remembered them! I can only imagine the happiness they felt when they saw him again. Thanks for posting. Now I'm going back to read the story next to it. |
Well, the dog looks wonderful and it's wonderful that she is home but how awful to lose 7 years of your dog's life! They did not say where the dog had been all that time. |
WOW what a great reunion that was. I am so happy she is back home where she belongs. |
Oh my gosh!! That is so amazing that she came back to them!! What a miracle for them to have their baby returned. |
I LOVE happy endings!!! Louise :animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa :D |
The wonderous advantage of having a pet MICROCHIPPED!!!! Dont "believe" in microchips, get your pet tatooed! |
I got to see the video just now. What a little doll Macy May is!!!!! I'm so glad she is home & wonder where in the world she has been all this time? Maybe she was "talked out" but that lady didn't seem as over-the-moon gushy as I would have been, just laughingly saying "she's mine.....of course I want her back" so matter-of-factly. She just didn't seem that relieved & overcome with happiness - but who knows how tired she was. Sounds like Macy's going to fit right back in, remembering all that about her old life. Get your dogs chipped or tattooed! |
I saw that story on our local news in Miami. I tried to find the clip to post on here but couldn't because I thought it was a local story. It is amazing!! |
Wonder what poor Macy went thru in the 7 year's she was missing? But as you said she does look good tho maybe whoever took her did take care of her. Maybe her Momma is in shock, But 7 year's is a long time, You know they say you can never go back home it just isn't the same. But hope they love her as much as or even more than before.:animal-pa Anne/.luci |
wow, how amazing. To be honest I think this is one of the worst things that can happen for a fur mommy! Luckily, here in South Africa I really havent heard of dogs being stolen from their yard. I thank God for this (even though Ziggy is never outside alone anyway, but still) |
I agree. She's probably worn out and gone through a lot of emotions - at least I hope so and that she hasn't moved on. I'll tell you if my little Tibbe or Jilly or Scotty could somehow be returned to me after being stolen and gone 7 years, they'd have to sedate me for weeks to keep me quiet from the teary/weepy carrying on & squeezing them to death and thanking the AC people & God & the world & the news people & the wonderful chip people. Their feet wouldn't touch the ground for a month because I couldn't let them out of my arms. But maybe inside this lady is whirring with giddiness. I wonder what that thief feels like reading this story & seeing the video? I sure would watch that little one closely in case he or she tries to get her again! |
My guess is that someone stole the dog and then probably sold it to someone else who didn't know it was stolen. I completely blame the vets this dog has been to, if any, for not scanning the the dog everytime it came in for a visit. I still think of Yoshi and I pray everyday that he is returned back to Mary. |
I sure wish the vets would do that but think about how many times it wouldn't check out because the dog had been sold or changed hands legally and the paperwork, website not updated. And how hot some people would be if you even questioned their ownership while their dog is in the vet very ill. You'd have to bring it up then as some people don't return for follow-up. It would be very tricky how to handle things. They'd have to hire extra staff to administer the much work involved in tracking it all down and dealing with the persons bringing the dog in. And what do they do with the info if it doesn't check out - call the police or Animal Control? They would have to have staff to handle their end. |

I don't think states make vets do the same thing as tax-supported animal shelters, thereby essentially turning them into some type of law enforcement agency in reporting names of clients who bring in dog whose chip ID listed owner doesn't match that of the presenting client or trying to reunite their clients dogs with the names listed on the chip, if different. Some might engage in some process voluntarily but what the legal ramifications are, I wouldn't know. |
It seems to me that the vets are responsible to do something about possible stolen property. I know that Gracie's chip gives a phone number to call. If a dog is legal just checking it out to make sure would only take a couple of minutes. If it turned out that the dog belonged to someone else it would be a matter for the police to deal with. If a vet suspects someone has a dog that could be stolen it is just like any other matter of stolen property. Just think of the heartache that it would save people. Remember that case a couple of months ago of a dog that the owner thought was dead turning up in a shelter a few years later? That dog had to have been to a vet. Sadly, I can see why they might not want to get involved. It is wrong but I know the thought process. Court! I have seen too many eyes closed to possible child abuse and neglect. I guess dogs have the same problem. The innocent depend on responsible people to help them. They can't speak for themselves.:( |
I think that is why most vets don't check chip ID's against ownership & try to assess who is the correct owner. Occasionally if the vet is very certain a dog is stolen, such as if Tibbe turned up as someone's new dog at my vet's office, they might call the police but imagine if I had just sold Tibbe(impossible!) and that person took him in, and my vet called the police out, only to find out there was a bill of sale. Needless police call & an angry new owner. I think if the police got too many calls like that, legislators would change laws so they didn't have to respond to those calls or something as you know probably few chipped dogs that are sold have their chip records updated that same day. That's one of the reasons why I don't think they aren't to date tasked legally with trying to assess true ownership. I wish they had the ability to do it somehow, say with paralegals on the staff or extra personnel to carry out the checking without raising my bills any more than they are, but wonder if most vets want either themselves or their staffs involved in anything but focusing on the healthcare of the dog. When I read my microchip info, I wasn't told that all vets would be responsible for scanning him and crosschecking or anything in my literature. If they are, I have missed it. |
What a happy ending!!! :) |
