markings what age, if any as a puppy, can you start to tell what the colors and markings will be as an adult. i know they are all black and tan at birth. I am getting one of ilovemyabbie's new boy's! The both have a little white patch on their chest. Will that be silver eventually? Just wondering. :) :) |
My dog is changing color very fast. He's 14 months old and had a white area on the top of his head ---now the roots of all the hair on his back, sides, and stomach are white and have grown out about 1/2 an inch. Plus the black on his face is beginning to disappear and is being replaced with a light tan. Who knows what color my dog is going to end up being. I was not exaggerating when I said you can notice color change from one day to the next. It is happening fast. People have told me that the "white" is actually "silver." I have started looking more at the colors of the Yorkies on YT ---and they are all different colors --so be prepared!!! I am. Carol Jean |
Hard question. Take a look at mom and dad. Ask your breeder if this breeding pair have had puppies before- may be able to give you some hints. Within any litter you may have a variation in the color- some may have a light gold others a deep gold. I was told many years ago to look at the gold under the tail- that is the color that your dog will have as gold when mature. Body color- some may start breaking as early as 4 months some may be two years old before they start to break. This is where it is important to talk with the breeder and see if they can provide you with any background info. |
You never really know what color they are going to turn out. That breaking white on the head of my female turned to a light tan. |
