Underfoot How does everyone deal with their babies darting underfoot? Scooter always seems to come out of nowhere and rocket right in front of where I'm walking. Several times I've caught myself almost tripping and falling because of it. He's always in full throttle mode and runs everywhere. :animal37 |
Mine are pretty good at staying out of our way, now. THey used to get underfoot a bit when they were younger. I think them getting nudged with a foot a time or two (NOT kicked, just like a shove) had something to do with their being more careful now. I threw my back out a couple of times when they were little, trying not to fall or step on them:rolleyes: Good luck:D!!! |
Georgie has gotten better about it. I think you can train them but aside from sit Georgie has me trained HA! |
I don't look straight ahead when I walk anymore!! LOL...I'm always looking down... |
Mine were always under foot when they were puppies also. Now that they have pretty much stopped chasing me around, I now have a new baby to watch out for. She lays on my feet when I'm standing still and chases my feet when they start walking. Guess it's a puppy thing and I just make sure I'm looking down all the time!! |
Learn to do the 'Yorkie Shuffle'. When you walk, you slide your feet instead of taking steps, and slow down a bit. It's a bit awkward at first, but it beats falling over or stepping on/ kicking the pup.:D |
My girls wear cat bells on their collar do I hear them all the time. Is amazing how you tune into that sound cause if Idon't hear a tinkle for a while I go and check where they both are even although we are in the same room. |
The worst for me was when I was taking some burgers to my outdoor grill. I had a lot of stuff in my hands and 'shuffled' through the back door but I used my foot to close the door behind me. All of a sudden I heard a "YIPE!" I realized that Lucy was walking with me and I caught her in the door. I dropped everything and checked her out thoroughly. She's fine but now I always look down when I'm leaving and there's a door in the way! Hope that doesn't happen to you - LOOK OUT BELOW!!!! Best wishes, Tracey |

I've learned the hard way to look down before I walk if I've been standing somewhere very long. Maci still gets around my feet sometimes though. She's pretty good at getting out of the way fast but every once in a while I can tell she doesn't know which way I'm headed and we do a little "dance" til she figures it out |
Scooter used to wear a bell when he was "little" but it fell of and I never replaced it. I'll get him another one tomorrow. Good idea. Thanks. |

Tatiana is not underfoot most of the time. The only time she's underfoot is when the doorbell rings, and I'm getting the door. It's treacherous! She's excited and barking, and darting around my feet, as I'm going to the door. I've tripped over myself, trying not to step on her. |
