Protective and possessive because I'm sick ]Hello I'm new to this site and I just wanted to talk about my baby boy because I have aautoimmune disease so my mom got me him and he is the best thing that has ever happens to me but because I'm sick he. Can tell so he is vey very over possessive and protective of me and it cute and nice but he will growl sometimes at my family if I'm not feeling we'll and they g too close he also honks he's bigger than he actually is. jazz is really a good kinda and. Sweetest dog eve but it's. Ow to the point where he getting to over protective because I spend a lot of time in my bed so be ofcorse has his own bed with me and get off until i do with the exception of going outside and eating and drinking i really need help to find out to stop this ??????????t |
Jaeger sleeps with us, too, and Sir and I basically hang out in bed (we don't have a lot of living room furniture, Sir's a bit of a minimalist) so Jaeger came to think the bed was his. He is also especially protective of me. We went to a personal dog trainer about it and she said every time he growls, pick him up until he stops growling, then do not allow him access to the bed until he walks up and gets uninterested in coming up (usually 30 seconds to 10 minutes, but it might take longer at first) then tell him it is okay to come up. Also, don't allow him on the bed with you unless you specifically invite him up, every time. We have a padded milk crate that Jaeger uses as steps, and he'll sit and wait on the steps until I tell him "ok." |
i would suggest instead of picking him up when he growls to actually taking him off your bed for 10 min. this will teach him you are the alpha and he cannot act that way on your bed. he does think its his bed so everytime he growls take him and put him on the floor and do not allow him up until you say it is ok kind of like a time out. you can also hold him down on his side until he submits. very gently turn him on his side when he growls and hold him until he is submissive..i would only use this when he is super out of control. i hope you find a solution. good luck. |
We pick him up to get him off the bed-he was starting to nip, and the trainer said not to let go until he calmed down or he'd escalate. As soon as he stops growling, we put him on the floor. The hold him on the side/on his back thing did not work for us at all. |
also try cesar milan site online. he has alot of short videos and articles that might offer some help. u probably know about his site but just in case. |
One of my 6 gets possessive up on the bed. After dealing with it a long time, we got sick of her attacking everyone else (several sleep on the bed with us) I got out a crate and made her sleep in it instead of on the bed. After a couple of weeks, I let her out. When she growled again, back into the crate she went. We have few problems anymore. Louise:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa |
