11 Month old Yorki-chon not sleeping Ellie is an almost 11 month old (will be on 7/5/12) yorkie-chon, who recently refuses to sleep through the night. I moved into a new apartment earlier this month, and she was sleeping fine at first, but that has since changed. Ellie sleep with me, I know shame on me, and goes to bed fine but starting around midnight she wakes up almost every hour whining to get out of the room. I take her out, but she rarely has to go – and prior to these last few weeks would only need out once a night – her new thing is that she goes to the laundry door and cries, knowing that’s where I store the food. I also walk her 1-2 miles every evening, so I wouldn’t think that it’s that she isn’t tired. Any advance would be greatly appreciated; Ellie and I are both exhausted. |
Sorry you are both not sleeping well:( The first thing I'd do is get a vet check up. She may have something going on that is causing her to be restless. Good luck! |
Is it possible little Ellie is hungry? As they grow their diet needs change and she IS getting lots of exercise... |
Ellie just recently had a vet check, and is doing great. As for being hungry, she eats twice a day right now - maybe I should feed her one last time before bed?! |

Dumb question I'm sure, but... what's a yorkie-chon? |
Deadbug, a Yorkie Bichon mix! They have many names, but I call Ellie either a Yorkie-Chon, or a yo-chon! LunasMomma and TysonMyBoy, she currently eats first thing in the morning (normally around 5:30am) and then again around 5:30pm when I get home from work. |
Might be time to add a bedtime snack and see if that stops the hijinx at night. |
I will try that this evening! |
Good idea everyone about the snack! Georgie loves his late evening snack and is out for the night!:D Good luck! |
Oh, and please post a pic of your baby if you can. I don't think I've ever seen a Yorkie Bichon mix, must be adorable:love:!!! |
I agree, we would all love to see pictures :) |
Maybe there are new sounds in the apartment that she's not used to. Even sounds that may not be noticeable to you. Maybe she's being alert/protective. Is she fully potty trained? If you add an evening snack, then she might really have to go in the middle of the night. My baby, Lucy, sleeps with me also. She's 5 months and I take up the food a couple of hours before bed time. I fear that if she really had to go in the middle of the night, she might do it in my bed because there's plenty of room. Since she's not trained yet, I don't give a bed time snack. Also, 1 - 2 mile evening walks seem quite long. I'm surprised she's not konked out by the time you get home. Maybe it's just your new place. Good luck. Tracey |
