At what age should you trim ear hair? Hello, I got my new baby Tango 3 weeks ago and yes he was too young :-( However, I am taking very good care of him and watch him constantly. He is now 10 weeks old. I got my other baby Coco at 16 weeks old so I was wondering at what age can I start to bathe Tango and trim his ear hair? One ear is starting do flop. Not sure if it's teething, ear mites or infection or the extra hair. I have a appt to check his ears at the vet in the am and not that I care if his ears go floppy cause Coco has floppy ones. I just dont want it to happen because they just needed to be trimmed. Thanks for the feedback.:animal36 |
I start shaving the tips of my puppies ears at 3-4 weeks of age. Now would certainly be just fine. Just never run the clipper along the edges. Shave only front and back side and trim the edge with a scissor. |
Thanks Lorraine. Nice to meet youl. Yes , my name is Cindy :-) |
I would love to try to trim Emy's ear also. Her one ear flops and the other is partly folded over but higher, but I'm scared she would make one of her famous jerks and wiggles while I was trying to clip. I do have a little moustache trimmer that I haven't used at all, but I have started to turn it on next to her just so she will get de-sensitized to the noise, she jumped and ran when she first heard it. I'll just keep at it, but no trimming yet, she is too wiggly...I don't want cut her by mistake, we'll just have to wait till she is a little older and not so wiggly. |
We got Zachary at 14 weeks. Both ears were HEAVY with fur and down down down. We shaved his ears about a week after we got him and they have been standing up ever since. He was TERRIFIED at the beginning and STILL doesn't like it now at almost 19 weeks but will tolerate it. Even if I am not "shaving", I subject him to the razor at least once a week. Louise |
been trimming since I got him and my breeder also trims around 4 weeks |
trimmed 1 Attachment(s) here is Tufty at 21 weeks and one ear trimmed because my rechargeable trimmers died after I did the left ear, patient wee muffin |
I trim Dexters ear with tiny nail scissor. They work great. But, b/c he is so hyper, I have my husband hold, and coddle him while I work. |
