bruno is home!! So ive had bruno now since sat..Im completely in love already...he is feisty and very playful..Its amazing how a pet can completely have a hold on you and how it can bring a family together...Im so grateful for this site..His vet visit is this thurs..He refuses to go potty outside..I have him confined in a playpen with potty pads..He is eleven weeks...ive been having disagreements with family on my methods..they feel he will get used to going inside and never go out side..My feeling is that he is too young to get it..what are peoples thoughts? what have people done when they first bring home baby in regards to potty issues?? thank you for input.. |
cedric has potty pads inside and has since i brought him home. he will however go potty outside if we are out and he has to go. it is nice in the winter for him to have the potty area or on very rainy days. it takes patience and consistency for the beginning stages. be prepared for marking in the future as well. once they get that instinct you may need a belly band. once i had cedric neutered this stopped but from time to time i still do find a marking spot in the house. |
I personally like that Brandi goes inside on potty pads and still goes outside to potty. She hates cold and rainy weather and I hate getting up in the middle of the night to let her out. I have the best of both worlds right now and it works for us. |
Congrats on getting Bruno!!!!:) My sweet love Georgie will be 7 tomorrow....can't believe it! If I had to do all over again I would definitely potty pad train him. I think you are doing the right thing and it will help train him to not have accidents inside. Eventually he will go outside and go potty too. |
First of all congrats on having Bruno home. I use pads indoor and the girls go out too when the weathers fine. I used only per pads at first until they had their injections then started taking them out. They are intelligent dogs. They get it. |
thank you all. Bruno has been home for four days...He is very lively..very attached to me already..I keep him in the playpen with toys and water..As far as potty, i admit i am getting frustrated already..I was with him outside for about a hour and a half after eating and drinking and he wont go at all..only inside. Im also afraid he is going to eat his pee pads...he seems to be nervous or he is just stubborn..I definitely need support and patence..I will take any advise |
