rabie shots? I hear all these horror story's about rabies shots, about what age and weight should they get them at? My puppy will be 4 months and was last weighed at 2.6 lbs. Probably 3.0 lbs now? |
6 months is the usual age. Unfortunately unless you get a medical waiver from your vet, the shot is required by law. If it makes you feel any better, my two have never had a reaction to the rabies shot. They got the three year one when they were about 6 months old, and have had it twice more since then (they're both 6) The safest thing to do would be to make sure that #1, your pup is in good health at the time of the shot, #2 Have ONLY the rabies shot that day and no other vaccs two weeks before or after that, #3, stick around the vets office for about 1/2 an hour after the shot and watch your baby for any reaction. If there is a reaction, you'll already be at the vets where they can help immediately. Good luck and do discuss your concerns with the vet;) |

All of my pups received rabies vaccines at 16 weeks old then had a booster shot one year later and then three years after that. I haven't had any problems with rabies vaccines. |
{{{{knocking on wood! }}}}}} The only reaction mine have had is a lump at the site of the shot...they get this on separately from their others. |
morgan got his 1 year rabie shot at 16 weeks and than after he turned a year got his 3 year rabie shot// so far he has had no reaction to any of his shots |
We had major problems with our basset hounds and the rabie shots. They both had deadly reactions to them. Now we have them both exempt. The little one's have no problems so far. We are taking our 9 month old shih tzu for his shot next Sunday and are we going to stay close to the vet until I'm sure he's okay. |
