Teeth I am just curious... If a yorkie is 9 weeks old shouldn't they have their teeth?? Not my puppy but a friend of mine.... I just think it is strange... I am thinking that they are younger than she was told. |
I remember Chachi didnt have teeth at 8 weeks old. I cant remember when they came in though. Not too long after that I would think. |
Teddy had teeth like razor blades at 8 weeks old... |
I know I was incorrect on my post. I forgot I got Chachi at 6 weeks so he was 6 weeks old when he didnt have any teeth. |
That is what worries me... That just seems wrong. We mixed together soft food so it is easier to eat, hopefully things go well. I think she was lied to and that makes me mad, the poor little babies should still be with their mommy...:( |

Yea I know my breeder wasnt too swift. She told me he was 8 weeks but when I went back and calculated his birth date after I got him it was 6 weeks. |
I've read on here more than once that they shouldn't leave mom till 12 weeks so that they can be properly socialized. I think I was lied to also, and told that Dublin was a couple of weeks younger than he actually was. Thank goodness he wasn't timid and socialized well with my other dogs. He also had a good hearty appetite from the go! |
Hmm...maybe it depends on the dog. I brought Syd home at 9 weeks and she had already been eating solid food for 3 weeks prior to that. She definately had all of her baby teeth fully in by 9 weeks. |
my libby is young also at 8 weeks 2 days and she has teeth.she is eating puppy chow healthy morsels soft and crunchy bites. she's eating good libby is wild today running around and playing with her toys, biting on shoes, my toes, etc. she is bouncing off the walls this morning!lol |
The pup should have baby teeth by 9 weeks old... usually by 6 weeks they have stubs or you can feel the teeth below the gums. Maybe it is younger than she was told. |
Pups start cutting milk teeth by 3-6 weeks. Mine always have them by 4 weeks. This pup should not have been released so young. Is it possible to return it to the mother/litter mates for proper socialization/development? If not, your friend needs to be aware of behavior problems that will almost certainly develop and should read up on care of very young pups. It is likely that it is far too young for immunizations and should not be allowed outside or allowed contact with other animals. Many bad bybs can't be bothered to care for pups when they begin weaning. This is the same time the mom's stop doing clean up duty so there are messes to clean up throughout the day, and routine care to provide. Some greedy breeders lie about age to convince people they are getting a smaller pup than what it is. This ignorance/greed makes me angry. |
