I was so worried that she was going to kill herself by chewing things like plastic and eating paper and tissues she would get into. As much as I would puppy proof the place she still would sneek into someone else's room and steal things to chew on. I finally realized she had a dire need to chew something and I knew rawhide was unsafe and could not find anything in the stores she liked. I read about bully sticks here on YT and decided to give them a try. They have been a life saver for both of us. She really likes them. The first time I gave her one I thought she would never stop chewing the thing! As she got her chewing urge satisfied she started needing them less. I stil have to keep one around at all times though. When she does get the urge to chew she will still steal things if her bully stick is not around. I buy her the 12" regular thickness sticks. She looks so funny trying to carry one around because they are bigger than she is but they last a long time and and I throw them away when they get too small for safety.
Sometimes if you can wear your little one out with some brisk walking or games of fetch it will help with the hyperness. They have such alert minds you just have to keep them busy. They sure are not sit around little dogs. It does get better as they mature though.:) |
