Picking up lucy tomorrow -can't sleep Hi, I was originally going to pick-up my baby from the breeder this evening. He suggested that the transition might be easier if I picked her up in the morning so that she could have the day with us and begin to get comfortable. I so agree with him. My kids and I are going to bring her home tomorrow morning. I have my ex-pen set up. I also bought one of those Bowser Buttercup beds - just in case I can get her to stay with me.;) You guys really helped me with planning my supplies. She has a buddy belt harness, bully sticks, rope toys, KB bag and of course dresses with hats! I can't wait for Lucy to model some clothes! Hopefully I'll have some great pics to share soon - I just don't want to freak her out on her first day home though - so we'll be low key tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all your advice.:D:p Tracey |

Checking in. Is Lucy home yet? |
Lucy made it home!! Hi all, Good news: Lucy is home!! Bad news: I don't have pics yet. I tried to take a couple, but we couldn't to hold still long enough. Tomorrow I'll have her in a dress for Father's day so I'll get some shots for sure. She had a great day I think. She has warmed up to us and even responds to her name. She drank some water but didn't eat very much. She just nibbled a little bit. My only concern is that I think I purchased the wrong size Buddy belt. I have a 3 - which fits now but she'll probably grow out of it. She's 5 months and 5 pounds. She also has lots of fur. The belt isn't tight but it seems like the leg openings are tight. BTW: Does it stretch? And, how snug or loose is it supposed to be? I hope I can get her all primped up tomorrow. I'm starting early. I never had a little girl yorkie before. The breeder gave me a mat that he uses just for her to tidy her up. He did her ears and clipped her nails and cut the excess fur growing around her pads. I don't know whether I can do all that. She was bathed today. Can I give her another bath so soon? She did get a little sick in the car on the ride so I'd like to freshen her up. I have the Yorkie Shine products. I can't wait to get some good pictures too!! If I do, I'll post tomorrow. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR KIND THOUGHTS!! YOU ARE ALL WONDERFUL!!:D:D:D I'll be back tomorrow. Good night. Tracey |

congrats on your beautiful new girl. cant wait to see pics |
Aww, so glad she's home and beginning to settle in. If she was sick, then yes, she needs to get cleaned up again. With time you'll learn all about her grooming, and grow more comfortable with practice. I'm sorry I'm no help with the Buddy Belt. I'm sure someone with experience will answer soon. Enjoy your new baby! |

You will find that the more you handle her, ie:Brush, bathe, comb, clip, etc. the easier it gets. Zachary gets a bath every Sunday afternoon...comb out matts (well, we do that twice a day anyhow), shampoo, condition, spray in dematter, blow dry, clean out ears with q-tip, shave ears if necessary, clip hair around eyes (there is a scissors you can get that had a rounded tip) final comb. He gets better behaved each time we do this...he was TERRIFIED of everything at the beginning. BTW, don't use a human hairdryer for a dog. I got a dog one off Amazon.com (don't remember the brand, just that is just bright yellow). The only thing I DON'T do is TRIM TOENAILS!! I have been trying to do that for more years than some of you people are old and have given up on being comfortable with that job . My vet does 5 opf my dogs and the groomer will take over with Zachary when he is groomed. (Expensive but worth it). Louise |
Big congratulation on your baby girl...LUCY! It's wonderful and such.a joy! |
Congrats on your new baby |
congrats!!! wheres the pics??? cant wait to see her! |
Congratulations on your new baby. So exciting. Hate the wait tho. I get my new puppy in one week and 6 days. |
Awe still no pictures :(. Congrats. |
Lucy is wonderful! 3 Attachment(s) Hi, Sorry this has taken so long. We're all pooped around here. Lucy travelled with us for Father's day to New York City (she got sick in the car:() Today, we saw the vet and she got a shot. So Lucy is knocked out. I took only a few pics after Father's Day brunch. Lucy wore a dress with a hat. I loved it and I think Lucy tolerated it. However, the rest of my family HATED it and removed it promptly. So, I only have her messy end of day pics. I also had to figure out how to load them here. I think I got it figured out. She's messy, tired and I still haven't learned how to remove the red-eye. Oh well, I hope to have all this techno stuff figured out at least by Christmas! I must check on my baby now. Thanks for all your kind thoughts & well wishes! Tracey |
She is adorable :)!! And to take the red eye out picmonkey is a great site they have a furbutt red eye tool there. |
she is just darling, love her face and her ears are so perky, looks like she will turn into a very pretty yorkie adult. You might have mentioned it so forgive me how old is she now. Good luck, but now that you have YT you will be able to find out everything you need to know and even stuff you wish you never knew:D |
She is a cutie pie |
She is a little darling. It's funny how some people are so offended when you put clothing on dogs!:) |

LOL..."messy end of day pics"...lol Did you really mean her "normal Yorkie look pics" instead? 'Cuz, mine look like that about 10 seconds after I let go of them after brushing and combing them out. :p:D Also, I was wondering who the "rest" of your family is that they "hated" Lucy's clothes and removed them, preventing you from even getting pix of her all dressed up. Brody and Mia :happyboun LOVE:happyboun wearing their clothes! Mia wore clothes before we got her, but her previous mommy said Mia didn't like them...err...wrong! :p Brody never wore clothes, and we found out with jackets for cold weather on Christmas Eve 2011 that they really ADORE being all cutsie dressed up! Both were 2 years old in March 2012. It is only DH and I at home, now, but I'd not be interested in ANYONE removing their clothes unless there was danger to my Yorkie babies. Your Lucy is a super cutie pie, and since she tolerated the clothes, she may come to love wearing them if given the opportunity. Climates and cold and all that jazz, and mine REALLY appreciate their sweaters when it's chilly/cold...and they live in Florida. One final thing...since you've just gotten Lucy and the BBelt appears almost too small, have you contacted the 'seller' to see if maybe they'd exchange for a larger size under the circumstances? Just wondering... I saw your thread before but didn't time time to comment. I am so happy for you that you now have this adorable little girl running your household...congratulations! :D |
Awww! What a cutie pie! Congratulations on your new addition! :) |
