I am new here, but I thought I could share with you - just got bad news on my 13 year old Yorkie, Raven. He is in kidney failure. He is not uncomfortable right now, but is drinking alot and has a few accidents.
I lost my other 13 year old Yorkie, Gizmo this past spring. Left one morning for work and when we came home, he was dead - looked like he died in his sleep (sure hope so). Today is a VERY bad day for us, and i was reaching out for some YT empathy and maybe some hints on how to help Raven. We have a very good vet.

I'm so sorry about Raven & Gizmo. Wish I could be of help. The only thing that I can suggest is just make sure he is comy.

Oh, how sad. :( Your baby has lived a long, good life. He's been good to you and loyal. Do what's best for him. Just don't let him suffer..... :(

Im so sorry to hear about Raven and even sader for your loss on Gizmo. I dont know what to say , just make him comfy and give him lots of hugs.

Awww...that is sooo sad! :cry: I don't have any advice on making him more comfy, but wanna give you lots of hugs and hope the best for you and your baby! :hug:

I am soo sorry to hear that. My yorkie Lacey was diagnosed with kidney failure shortly before Easter this year. She was also 13 years old. When I got the news, I was devastated. Cried in front of my boss all of my co-workers. Yet, none at work seemed to care. My mom made the toughest decision ever when we had to put her to sleep only 5 days after my birthday. We felt she could not go on anymore and she suffered enough. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I am here if you ever want to talk.

So sorry to hear about BOTH your babies :( I would keep in close contact with your vet and when they think it's time I'd let him go..as hard as that is. You don't want him to suffer if it's best to let him go. You'll see both your babies again at the Rainbow Bridge. Just LOVE, CUDDLE, and KISS him as much as you can. Hugs to you and Raven. You're both in my prayers.

Prayers for both Raven and Gizmo. It is so hard to see out little ones ill or suffering. Hugs to you.

Your post is very sad but I am so glad you came to YT to share this with all of us so we can help you through this difficult time. It is so hard to lose a pet but to lose two so close in time at your age will be really hard indeed. I am glad that at least you will have a chance to say goodbye to Raven since Gizmo's death was sudden. Please know that we are here for you and we truly do understand. :(

Dear Raven's Mom...........I am going to use my knowledge & Profession here if you don't mind? I am a Palliative Nurse....Yes I do this fulltime and have for years. Trust me, please in knowing........it doesn't matter whether it is a human family member or a canine family member ,LOVING them is the medicine, for as long as you can. A part of Loving them ( are you ready?) is knowing when to give their soul & spirit PEACE..........knowing when they give you the signs ( you will know in your heart when) that its time that they go onwards to do greater things in their life ( spirit). This will be one of the hardest things to do.............but to cross over with dignity, love & respect, and to be painfree is .......I think the greatest love of all to give. I have seen miracles and once in a blue moon I will post this way(this could be my first)...............but I do believe.....there is a greater being than any of us and he/she loves all of God's creations!
Of course you will miss Raven, but you will hold tightly to your heart all the emotions he has taught you & the memories he will give you!

But for today & tomorrow & every day after..........Enjoy every minute you have with him........concentrate on his special qualities..........Love him, caress him.........and hold him. (
