I didn't realize how hard it is to find a good healthy puppy. I had an appt. at Country Home Yorkies today and thank god I looked up reviews for her. They were not good |
Good luck in your search. I think smartpuppiepets is a member here. Here is a link to a search I did for all their posts. Maybe you could PM them? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sea...archid=6033407 |
Local YTCA Hi Karen, Best wishes finding your puppy. It was an extraordinary search for me too - especially for a female. After perusing Puppyfind for a month and then looking at local classifieds, I finally decided to look for the breeder instead of the dog. I called everyone listed from my local YTCA chapter. Those people are really knowledgeable and helpful. I had numerous discussions with several of them - even though they didn't have a puppy for me. Finally, I found my breeder and a fantastic little girl!! I'm picking up my Lucy on Friday. Isn't she delicious!!:D Anyway, good puppies do cost money. I purposely put aside funds every week to get the right puppy. It took a little longer, but it was well worth it. Let me know when you find your girl!! (or boy - many of them are too cute!) Best wishes, Tracey |
Good luck for your search for that perfect puppy. Hope you find one soon.:p |
Best wishes on your search. Most of what you will see online are puppy mills. Don't fall for their fancy ads. You can look on the AKC website and find breed or conformation clubs in your area. Most of them have a contact person for people who are looking for pups. These people are usually good at pointing you in the right direction but always get references and check out the breeder carefully. Hope you find the perfect pup! |
Yeah be cautious, go look at the Yorkie club of America and AKC and with the good advice of folks on here find yourself a good breeder in your area |
@LUVLEE: Excellent job in finding YOUR new baby! You did all the right things, with all the correct expectations and the best results! THAT is what happens 99.9% of the time when this "buy the breeder first" approach is used! Your realistic expectation to have to pay a little more for your precious, HEALTHY, baby is certainly a bonus in preparation for you...congratulations on your new baby! I hope the OP reads your encouraging story and goes after her new baby using your roadmap! She will avoid countless mine fields doing so! |
Thanks for your kind words! Quote:
Thanks for your kind words about my puppy search. It really took some close calls with the wrong puppy to finally figure out the best way to get my girl. I realize now that I'll have some interaction with my breeder - which is a good thing. I think I've emailed him a gazzilion times already - and he always responds. He's a wonderful resource who's so willing to help. It's one of the best benefits of really knowing your breeder. It's also great to have Yorkietalk as a resource too. I've already ordered my yorkie shampoo & carrying bag through recommendations on this site. I feel very very luck all around.:D |
