Sometimes I wish... There was a puppy boarding school. You know, a place that I can send my little terrorist, Issy, until she's through all this chewing, whining and peeing in the house! A place that I can just pay tuition and get her back all grown up and a good dog. Puppies are such hard work! There are days that it just wears on me and I have to step back and remind myself that like a toddler, this is just a stage and WILL get better. I remember Gabby was similarly as hard to raise but Issy does things Gab never did. Gab never chewed anything up that wasn't hers. Issy chews everything up that ISN'T hers. Gabby wasn't a whiner. If I put her in her ex pen, she'd take a nap or play with her toys. Issy whines as much as a colicky baby. They both love to shred paper towels and unroll the toilet paper though. I need to send my DH there too! It's his fault she ate the bed... twice. Sometimes I feel guilty. Gabby and I have a much stronger bond than me and Issy. Is that normal? |
Puppies are cute however I could do without the puppy stages also |
Mine are like that. I joke that if Eevee had come along first, I would never have gotten a second one. But Jax came first and he was totally well-behaved. Hardly ever chewed anything except his toys, never whined for more than 15 minutes in his crate/expen, and potty-trained pretty fast. Slept all the time! So then I got Eevee. Totally hyperactive, chews EVERYTHING, and she'll be housetrained for a while, then go backwards. Also the yappiest dog I have ever met in my life. She actually annoys the other dogs with her barking! I look forward to her growing up! |
hah and I was just thinking about getting another one in a few months...but I don't think anything could be worse than Geno haha |
They do get over the puppy stage in time. I have two basset hounds that have eaten everything from insullation, wallets, cell phones and cable wires. They also chewed the electric wire on our juke box while it was plugged in. I'm surprised they're still alive. They must have more lives than a cat. They did grow out of it though. Now they only chew paper towels, paper plates and newpapers. |
Ziva(3) was my naughty girl, but what a personality! Abby (10 months) is still struggling thru puppyhood (potty mistakes!) and the sweetest dog you can imagine- but Ziva is my favorite anyway. Good my daughter is here, she adores Abby and Ziva snubs her. |
I'm with you on that one...I was totally looking forward to another Raelle, a perfect 'little' angel. What i got was a 10lb. holy terror!!Chews everthing...and now has taught Raelle what fun it is to chew my oak coffee table legs!! Sent her backwards with the potty training too! I'm an amateur in the garden, this year it looks wonderful...I'm sooo proud of myself...what does this monkey do?? Race through my garden like a machine gun, while Raelle just sits on the patio like the sweetie she is. Many times I've said to fiance...I'm giving him back! Nope the little brat is still here a year later. So why am I looking for number three again? lol..cuz I'm certifiably insane, thats why! Someone please tell me this stage will pass before someone winds up committing me to 1001 Queen...please!! |

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one that has a favorite! Issy and I haven't REALLY bonded yet and admittedly, I was starting to feel guilty. I'm not saying I don't love her. I just don't feel the same bond with her that I do Gabs. Gabby is my princess. She's always been such a lady. So gentle, so respectful and so delicate. However, I admit that we didn't really bond until she was about a year old and learned how to be a good dog. It's hard not to love a dog that works so hard to please you. Gabby's only desire is to earn affection and make you happy. She's happy when she's being doted on. Issy is a freaking hooigan! She's like a tomboy in all respects. She could care less about you unless you have food. Runs off as soon as the door is open. Doesn't really care when you scold her. She'll just look at you like "So? What's your point?" She's disrespectful when it come to playtime, a total bully. I put a dress on her, she chews on it until I take it off. Leash training? HA! We don't go for a walk. We go for a drag. And yappy... yes she's freaking yappy! We're working on that. Pee pad? It's the new toy of the day. Gabby will pee on it and Issy will immediately drag it over and put it ON Gabby's bed. Ugh! She's just naughty. VERY VERY naughty! Case and point, my boys were flying their RC helicopters. One of them hit the ground and Issy darted over, snatched it and broke the landing gear. It took me 2 hours to take it apart, replace the landing gear and put it back together. Those things are incredibly expensive! They're not dog toys! It's a darn good thing she's cute! That's about all I can say. So please tell me this will end.... please! |
I too havent really bonded with Orion...but oh! Raelle...the perfect little lady! loves the bows in her hair..will hold her head up for you to put a dress on her...Orion will litteraly drag the bow out of her hair and chew on her dress! Try and put a topknot in this boys hair..he will scratch and scratch until its out! Always looks like some kind of ragamuffin, no matter what I do to make him look neat! They are going to commit me i swear! AND I though the puppy stage would be over by now!! The silly git is a year old! |
