Finally got my Yorkie!!! Hi everyone. After lurking for some time and wanting a Yorkie like "forever" I finally got one yesterday. He is so cute and is almost 12 weeks. He has the babydoll face that I have been looking for too. The only worry I have is that yesterday both his ears were up and today one of them is down. Should I be doing something with it? It will be hard to not let him get his way cause he is so cute! That is also why he is now mine as I caved and bought him even though I was going to wait to do so cause I already have two other dogs. |
Congrats. You need to load pictures. The ears do that sometimes. |
Congrats new momma! As far as the ears go, you can massage, tape, and shave the ears. I'm not sure how far down you trim the hair, as I've never done it before. :p I'm sure someone else will come along and give you better pointers. I've also heard/read teething can affect the ears. They'll be up one day and then down the next. |
Welcome. Your baby is probably teething, that will make ears temporarily fall. You might want to read the previous posts about ears in our YT library. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Congratulations on your new baby! |
Congrats on your baby!!! the ears will do that sometimes, they will more than likely go back up, I believe teething has something to do with it |
Congratulations on your new family member! Hope you can post some pictures. Stress can sometimes cause the ears to go down. Also as the fur gets thicker on the ears it can put weight on the ears and make it harder for them to stand. I have seen people say that the stress of teething can cause ears to go down. Until the cartilage in the ear matures there is the chance of the ears going down so if your puppy seems to be having issues you might want to consider helping him by having the fur on the ears trimmed. There are a lot of helpful tips on the forum about this subject. |
Congrats....Welcome to YT. How exciting, can't wait to see pictures of your sweet boy:D |
welcome and congrats on your new baby |
Welcome and congrats. :) |
Welcome and congratulations! |
welcome to YT!!! Congrats on your new addition!!! |
Thanks! Thanks everyone. I hope all goes well with him. So far, so good. He's so small and quick, that you really have to watch where he is when you are walking. :) |

Haha I can remember that when I first got mine, you will get use to it in a day or so |
Hello! Congratulations and welcome! Yes, the small and quick little ones... that's when you start doing the "yorkie shuffle." Shuffle your feet instead of walking normal so you don't step on him! LOL Can't wait to see pictures of your baby. |
Welcome to yt! Congratulations on your new addition! :) |
Congradulations on your new baby and welcome to YT. Whether the ears are up or down these little ones are a joy to have. Even though they are not suppose to wear collars, while he or she is so little, I would put a cat collar with a bell on it to help you. They are so little and can get hurt so easy. Good luck and God bless you and your little one. |
Congratulations on the new baby. I saw mine for the first time yesterday. So darn cute. |
Hello and congrats....welcome. |
Great idea The cat collar with a bell on it is a great idea! I'll have to figure out how to post a picture of him as all of them are currently on my phone. |
Congratulation's on your new baby. What did you name him? Yes teething has a lot to do with thier ear's standing. My Luci is 6 month's old one ear up and one ear down. Tried the taping and shaving , no luck But I love her the way she is. Make's her more uneek I know that is not spelled right. But o well. Have happy time's with your new addiction.:p:congrats::yorkiesar Have a great day. Mugwee1 |
Picture of Quincy I think we are naming him Quincy. Each of my children want to name him their own name. ha ha I did end up shaving some hair off his ear and then I did tape it overnight. I took it off this morning and it has been up ever since. So both are back up! Yay! |
