Potty Problems Hi does anybody out there ever have problems with their Yorkie going poop? My lil Izzy has had issues with pooping as long as I've had him, which has been almost 3 years. Here are the problems; he hates when it touches his bottom, so he takes off running to try and shake it free. But sometimes he takes off and it's only half out of him, so of course, the rest gets stuck in his fur on the bottom. If this happens when we are going for a walk, I have to pick him up and carry him home. He wont walk because he hates the way it feels if it's stuck to his bum? I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to make him feel calmer when it's time to poop. It's gotten to the point, because of the getting stuck halfway out, he's afraid to poop now? He doesn't like to go, so he'll get stubborn and try to hold it in all morning...I'm at my wit's end on what to do and feel so bad for him it's making the two of us stressed out. thanks ahead of time for reading this and any advice... |
Is his fur long back there at all? He may need a good trim around his butt and maybe even his legs so it doesn't get stuck there either. Good luck! |

Hi yes it is right now, he's scheduled for a grooming on Friday. But this happens regardless of whether his hair is long or trimmed. I am more concerned with the fact he gets so stressed out about pooping? I wish there was a way to calm him and make him realize it's okay. Thanks for responding. Your pups are sooo cute. |
Aw, thanks:) Your baby is a cutie, too:D I wonder what's up with the poopy with him? Hopefully someone more experienced with dog psychology will come along and help soon. My Izzy won't poop in front of me, if I happen to walk in on her while she's going (they are pad trained), she will run off under the bed with a poo half out. I have to chase her down and get the poopy and clean up after that:rolleyes: She's a shy pooper:laugh: But that sounds odd, your little dude being so freaked out by his doody. Have you asked the vet about this yet? |
Just giving this a bump because I'm curious if anyone has any ideas about this situation. |
Aw poor little guy- What food do you have him on? Maybe he needs a higher quality food… maybe more fiber? I am not too sure- Have you talked to your Vet about this? Maybe he has some good ideas.. |
