I have the same result with Hills. Very firm, dark, healthy poo. Smaller portions but more times a day. I used canned and dry as well. ;)

Hills. It took awhile for them to adjust. Diggy got a lil itchy in the beginning I stuck with it and its been 2 years. Working awesome now. When I speak of flare ups they are usually the humans fault. (my fault) I try SO hard to keep any table food away but its almost impossible. I drop 1 thing in the kitchen the vultures are ON IT! lol It happens but in time you learn the patterns of them I literally can tell with Diggy instantly. Hes a big baby and just a lil pain he is down for the count. Bella hides it well. Shes a lil brutis and hers sometimes is so bad by the time i catch it we have to go to vet. good news tho the vet now can just feel her belly, says yep hard as a rock and she gets fluids the meds and gone within a few hours. It sounds a lot worse than it is, its always scary cuz its your baby but it is very manageable and you get very used to it. Heads up tho, Pancreatis is VERY painful for fur babies. Bellas first sign is she cannot lay still or get comfy! I hate it for her.

Are they on I/D or W/D Do you know the difference? The vet just sent us home with 3 cans of W/D wet. That’s great that the food works well for your babies, this whole food thing is so stressful!! DH and I are going to try VERY hard to keep him away from anything… I know I was cleaning the counter table’s last night and guess who was trying to get the crumbs!! Little stinker-

I don’t know if Peanut just had a really mild case of it- when the Vet felt his belly he said it felt good, I saw the test and it was Positive for Pancreatitis. It had 2 dots and one of the dots was darker than the other- Peanut wasn’t showing any symptoms that your babies had- He did throw up and has really bad diarrhea Sat Morning, he was acting sickish since he ate that Texas Toothpick, but it was on and off- Really strange!

Another rx food that I have used that is the equivalent to I/D is Purina EN. I have two pups on it and they are doing well.

Thank you!! I just realized, he gained some weight! He is 5.4!! He was 4# the last time he was at the vet.. :eek: Diet and exercise will be a good thing.

Thank you- I guess I will know more when I take him in today to get retested and talk to the Vet about Diet. I am on my seat waiting for that test!

I think your right. If Gracie would eat kibble, which she won't, Acana is one of the few I would consider feeding her. It seems to be great quality. Yes, I think the table scraps and the T.T. probably just was too much for him. I hope he is back to his old self soon.

Thank you- I hope so too- I have learned my lesson trust me- No more!! It is going to be hard, last night when we ate Peanut was right there waiting for bites!! I just put him in his crate until we were done. I didn't want him stressed out so I figured for the time being he will be better in his crate at dinner time. I know he will get use to it and soon he wont be begging for anything, but I know it is going to be hard!

I cleaned his toy box out, I found a couple bully sticks, threw those things out and I was able to return the Texas Toothpicks! Bad news those things are!

No. From the time she was a puppy she would not eat kibble. That started me on a journey into the pet food industry. It is also how I found this site. I was so desperate to find something that she would eat. I cooked for her for a while and soon found she does not like grains at all. So I started trying grain free kibble but she still would not eat them. I started her on Stella and Chew's freeze dried but I found that the frozen is much lower in protein and fat. She eats better than any dog in our family ever has! I do let her have 12" regular sized bully sticks though. Only the ones from Best Bully. Some of the companies that sell those things do not handle the product properly and those can make a dog sick. I get Gracie the big ones because they are too big for her to bite a piece off. She can only soften the ends. Gross. But it's the only thing I know of to satisfy her urge to chew. They are very lean and contain no fat but being a meat product they of course do have protein. She doesn't chew all the time. Maybe once every day or two she gets the urge to chew. If she does not have those sticks she will find something really harmful to chew on. She used to steal things from the strangest places to chew on. Now she is happy with her stinky stick.

Well I come with good news- his pancreatitis test came back negative- I talked to my vet and he said the Acana will be fine- he said he thinks it was all the junk food we were giving him. I'm going to finish the 3 cans of Hills w/d and from there will order his Lamb and apple Acana. He will only be eating his kibble ( buddy biscut treats), maybe some sweet potato I know he likes that- that's what his diet will be. I'm going to walk him everyday, the vet said he can loose a pound- I'm not too concerned about his weight, but since we have been giving him all that junk with no exercise he does seem chunky- so we will work on that!!

All I know is I'm going to try my hardest not to give in and give him anything that can harm him- I do not want to go through this again- we might not be so lucky next time!! My baby means the world to me I want him to be with me for a long time!!

Stay strong, girl, it is for Pnut. You just have to ignore their begging or tell them to go lie down - it is best for their health. Like Ladyjane said, having something he can safely have will do just as well in the event you do want to share when you are eating or cooking & he's sitting on the floor looking pitiful. Tibbe seems almost just as satisfied to get a piece of green bean or even his own kibble as he does a piece of meat! I'm sure glad that test came back negative!!! That's encouraging. Keep up the good work & hang tough. ♥

I'm so glad to hear the good news about Peanut! Just keep some healthy snacks nearby if the begging gets too bad and give him little bits of those.

Gracie put on a little extra weight over the winter so I started walking her more than usual. It has helped a lot and quickly, too. She loves her walks so it's a good thing for her. (I don't enjoy it quite so much)

Thanks- When we eat I have been putting him in his crate- He doesn't seem to mind.. I do want to start training him to stay maybe in his bed or something when we eat..

LOL Peanut doesn't like veggies.. I think he ate a pea once, and he had a green bean in his mouth and then out it went :rolleyes: I am so thankful that the test came back negative, I was so stressed out, I wasn't eating myself!!

Thanks- Peanut loves his walks too, it will be good for both of us- Especially now that it gets darker later :D We can go out and enjoy ourselves!

You don't enjoy walking? I think it is really relaxing when I walk Peanut, Esp when it is nice and cool-

My dh wants to feed from the plate so I cut carrots and keep plain boiled chicken cut into small strips that he can put on his plate to "treat" the dogs with. I don't which is harder to train, the dogs or my dh!!!:eek:

LOL- I don't know why it is so hard for them not to give the dogs "treats".. They are crazy!! Tell me about it, I think after this ordeal DH will think twice when he lets him lick the whip cream off of his shake!! :eek:

I used to love to walk but a back injury and some joint issues have made it a less than enjoyable experience. Your right though it is good for all of us. I need to do it and thanks to Gracie I make myself do it.

What a brave little soldier he is! Such a little doll!

Oh Yes I understand- I have major back problems too- It really gets you down!! You just have to try to push yourself.. Which I know it is hard when you are in pain- Hopefully you are able to take something for that- Lets push ourselves for our babies :D
