My yorkies ah biter Hello everyone, I would like to know what I can do to get my 10 week old puppy to stop jumping on people and biting them? Please help I am open for suggestions.. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! This is a common problem when pups are taken from their moms before they are 12 weeks old. Mom teaches bite inhibition between 8-12 weeks of age, your pup missed these lessons so now you'll have to teach her. I doubt your pup is responding to the spoken word at this age, so you can try growling at her, as that is what her real mom would do to stop any unacceptable behavior. You may have to try some different sounding growls, higher or lower pitched, longer or shorter in duration... but when you make the sound close to what her mom did, you'll know it because that pup will lay right down and stop immediately in it's tracks. Then start using words after the growl and the pup will begin to understand what you want. Also, when she does what you ask, be sure to tell her 'Good Girl' so she'll know she's doing the right thing. After a week or so growling won't be necessary.... |
