Each time I got a foster, they were always a bit withdrawn and some just followed me around. It takes them a few days (some even weeks or months, depending on the trauma they have endured in their lives) to size things up, getting to know the new people & other pets and when they finally realize they re safe and loved, then they just open up like a rose. It's only then that you get to see who "they" are too. Their real personality starts showing up. ;) |
My parents little Yorkie died in 2007 at the age of 15 he was mollie and billys best friend. The took it really hard. They rescued what looks like a full blooded sitzu. They got her from a kill shelter. When the animal control picked her up she was under weight she was dirty totally mated coat. She had a bad infection and ear mites. She by there guesses was 2 or 3 years old. She had to have been so abused. It took her months to really trust them. My parents treat her like a princes. However she is terrified of other dogs other than mine. She gets terrified being away from my parents. When they board her the has to keep her in another location away from the other dogs or she want eat. She is terrified to go down stairs. The vet thinks she was kicked our thrown down the stairs. She is such a sweet girl |
