Groomer this week ... I have to take Mrs. Beasley to the groomer this week. I don't have a groomer that I really like. The last year she has gone to the Vet's office for grooming. The lady is good and kind to her, but I have to take her before 8:00 and can't pick her up until 12:30 (if she is at the beginning of the list) or 4:00 in the afternoon. The best groomer I have ever had quit because her mother is ill and she needs to be with her. I wish I could find her a good groomer, one we are comfortable with. :( |
I understand about finding a good groomer. Maybe you can keep your eye out for a well groomed dog and ask the person who does their dog. I stopped taking mine in about three years ago. I had one drugged when he was a pup. I also had two occasions where they had cut hair that shouldn't have been cut. I gave up, so I've been doing it myself. It may not be "correct" at times but it's ok. I keep my boys in long coats so it's easier to just trim them up a little but if they where in puppy cuts I don't think I could do that......Good luck in finding a good groomer. |
I know what you mean, we went through several groomers with Yoshi until we found a great one. She stays booked with regulars and we feel so blessed that she took Miss Priss too, she is wonderful and listens to me as to what I want even though when I tell her to just do what she thinks will look the best. |
I had issues with many many many groomers they would give my girls puppy cuts when I just wanted them groomed. Then they would charge around 60 to 80$. For my little ones to look so pathetic with their beautiful long coat gone My girls are all indoor children with out door walks. My husband decided that her would start trimming the girls himself. I have never been happier with how they look. he watched a video about it. They always look great The only issue is Mollie has arthritis in her legs and hates to be brushed some times. I take them to the vet to get their nails clipped The biggest thing besides the bad hair cuts that made us turn to self grooming was I was picking up Lizzie and their was a woman who brought her dog in due to fleas he was an outside dog I freaked out scared to death that Lizzie had been near him. I also did reading about things your dogs can pick up when they are in kennels or groomers and it was really scary. It basically said a lot of dogs only get the requiem rabies vaccination and not their other shoots. It makes since because kennels and groomers only ask for rabies documentation |
I understand. There is a groomer close to me that actually broke a dog's leg. I am so afraid to take her anywhere. I have clippers and do her hair sometimes. I don't know how to clean her glands or ears. I also don't know how to trim her nails. |
I don't do their glands. My vet said it isn't necessary unless they have a problem I let the vet deal with at none of my girls has ever needed it. We simple use an ear was we bought from the vet and was their ears out weekly. I have to clean Lizzie's daily due to the fact she has two pounds of hair. I just hate groomers and kennals |
