Men...laundry...if they're not shrinking your mocha cashmere sweater down to a child's 6x by helping with the laundry and promising to remove it from the super-gentle washer cycle to the flat towel-covered drying rack instead of the heated dryer...when YOU would have ACTUALLY DONE IT cuz you LOVED that sweater, they're using laundry to watch TV...errr...gain brownie points by helping with chores. lol

I am so sorry about your shoes...more sorry you had to 'fess up about their cost...hoping a suitable replacement pair will follow you home again one day! :p

I know what you mean about the alarm clock...there are several 'sounds' that could bring me back to this world from the great beyond, never mind sleep...and I use the term loosely cuz I don't get much of it...things like a kitty hair ball or the sound of canine or feline diarrhea on a comforter will do it, too. :p Heck, Brody's "err" can barely be heard, but I'm upright and headed for "outside" before I even wake up cuz it means he 'really' needs to go! :p

I understand the hands and knees scrubbing thing...DH is so sorry when I have to do that, too! It makes his TV watching and computer game playing...sad...interruptions, and all that jazz! :p

So, wipe those tears, get out the magic marker for those greys, and keep posting the "Deadbug Adventures, Chronicled" for those who do understand! :D

Oh hey! It's never ending. I'm just gearing up for when I finally do snap and kill him. At least then I'll have my dogs to keep me company.

It's been... well... an "interesting" day today. The fact that he's alive and I'm somewhat sane says something. I've come a long way in managing my self control and sense of humor.

He's cooking dinner tonight. Brace yourself. This ought to be good.

I am truely laughing,thank you. Well not outloud because my man is sitting across the room in HIS chair that our 9yr (yes I said year) old poodle decided to decorate earlier today. I have been telling the man for years to put the dogs in the pen if I am not home and he feels a need to bond with the backyard. Sense it was his white leather chair and my hardwood floor today,maybe,just maybe he can remember that the dogs see me as alpha and that he isnt even ON the food chain and doesnt count where they are concerned,except to pass out treats.
As for the greay hairs,that is what hair color is for. I dont even know what color my hair really is because I have 6 children and 5 dogs and have been using hair color almost as long as I have had kids. My daughter sweetly pointed out one day,when she was little,"Mommie your hair is turning blonde", um no it was grey and I wasnt even 40.

I know what you mean by fustration. We are in the middle of taking up all the carpet in our house because my little angels pooped and pee pee'd and ate parts of the carpet. I had mollie house broken and pad trained just I case she could not out and she was fine

Lizzie who is 2 1/2 is house broken but she spite pees. She want go out in the rain because she is the prissy one and she will stand on the pee pee pad and act like she doesn't need to go. Then 10 min later she pees on the floor. She will poop in our walk in closet at night if she doesn't get her evening walk


Entry Abbie in to the mix. I have just started taking her out on my back patio at 4 months old mostly because it is hard to find a harness that fits her. She is pad trained. I am out of work now so we go potty every 2 hours on the pad. The problem is she will smell the carpet where the other accidents happened an pee there she is also small enough to go under our bed and leave us a tiny gift


I hope once the carpet is gone and the floors are aired out and cleaned these behaviors will stop

Argh! I dealt with this in my breakfast room, which is partially the reason I've had such a hard time.

No matter what I did, Gabby would pee in the breakfast room, which was carpeted for some stupid reason (some people shouldn't be allowed to own a house and make decisions on things like that). It was in the plan to take it up and tile it eventually, but I didn't exactly want to do it at the time. Bear in mind I'm an interior designer and the first I did the day of closing was take out 3 walls to create more of an open floor plan. The breakfast room is now connected to the kitchen, which flows into what has become my formal dining room. The kitchen was the only tiled area, fashioned in a lovely leprechaun green. The previous owners just had that carpet installed a month before I bought the house. No doubt to sell it.

Summer came and I kicked on the swamp cooler, which, inadvertently puts moisture in the air. I come home from work and my house smelled like urine. Not good. My OCD self just couldn't handle it. Later that night I got a black light out (BIG mistake) and realized how bad the problem really was. I'm pretty sure I lost at least 5 years off my life that night. It was EVERYWHERE! The entire floor glowed a bright lime green.

The next morning, off to Petsmart I went for 3 gallons of Nature's Miracle. That night I saturated the entire floor in that room in the hopes of eliminating the smell. Another BIG mistake. I used to think Nature's Miracle was a sworn product, but all it did was intensify the stench. By the end of the next day the smell was so overwhelming I literally moved out and stayed in a hotel. My eyes were watering. I don't know if they were watering because of the ammonia smell or if it was tears knowing what I had to do. Taking up that carpet meant I HAD to tile the kitchen floor way sooner than I had planned. 1275 sq ft of tile to be exact. I wasn't a happy girl.

I took up the carpet only to find that I also had to take up the subfloor, baseboards and 18" of the drywall from the floor up. WHAT A FREAKING MESS! It was rotting from the urine of previous pets. Turns out the previous owners had 2 great danes and 3 cats, and the breakfast room was their toilet. Yuck! Once the floor was up, we had to treat the floor joists and apply an oil based primer. 3 coats, in fact. At that point, the smell was gone and stayed gone.

The same thing in my sons room, with the exception of the subfloor wasn't rotted. That was Gabby's #2 choice to go. When I took up the carpet, I just sprayed Nature's Miracle on the spots on the wood and had new carpet installed. She STILL went there whenever she had a chance. I had to start all over again and replace carpet that I just barely replaced a year ago.

So my advice is, once you take up the carpet, you also have to treat the wood subfloor or they'll find it again. Clean the stain as best as you can. I mixed 50/50 of Capture and liberally sprayed the spots. Let dry for a few days and then apply at least 2 coats of oil based Primer (Killz brand). THEN carpet. It was the only way to stop it.

Poor Deadbug hehehehe I on the other hand am having huge success (touch wood) with no heavy onset of issues but I'm still not at massive teething time yet. I learned what not to have access to with Teegy so I've tried to puppyproof better this time.
On a happy note, a poo bag fell out of my pocket in the living room and Tufty brought it to me in the hall and dropped it at my feet. My heart bled a little with absolute joy, I didn't train him to do that.

:thumbup::thumbup: You are soooo right...and it sounds so much like a couple apartments I lived in and the first house I bought years ago...except for the 2 Great Danes, thank goodness! :p One apartment had brown indoor-outdoor carpet in the kitchen. I decided to clean it...it was GREEN and I worked and worked on it...no kids then...and never got it clean!

The second was a duplex...pet urine on the walls with run streaks to the floor and torn up carpet. Flies, mosquitoes, spiders, and other bugs smashed on the walls and left there. It was horrendous, but we had just moved back from Germany with 2 kids and HAD to have some place to live...it would have been cleaner under a rock in a cow pasture...I think my hands were permanently lightened by the bleach...and they got to keep our deposit to replace the carpet and a piece of clamshell, and replace a door that there was nothing wrong with!

We didn't know we were buying a 'fix-er-up-er' till we moved into the first house we bought and found NOTHING worked...not even the kitchen faucet. To this day I turn on EVERY faucet and flush EVERY toilet...open every cabinet door...etc...in EVERY house I look at....pull at the corners of wall-to-wall carpet to see if it is or if it hides rotten flooring...etc. :p Found out later that floors needed replacement, the pool liner was shot and wouldn't hold water, the pump and filter needed replacement and so on...all because of their stupidity. All we did in that house was try to repair the damage. It was years before I was willing to look at a house I had the slightest inkling to punch out a wall...:p

I finally could handle remodeling and we got a fix-er-up-er for the lot and the location. No one will ever need to remind me NOT to do it again! :D

And, yes, Kilz products are great...for lots of things.

But this is what I've always done. This is my 7th home. Yep! You heard me right. 7.

I tend to go after foreclosures and short sales, gut the place room by room and replace everything. Nothing surprises me anymore. However, when I did my powder room, I had a few moments where I had to stand back and giggle.

The room at one point had a window to the outside. When the 3rd and 4th bays were added to the garage, they put a piece of plate glass mirror in the window opening. Not satisfied that it didn't disguise the fact that it ws a window, they added a dainty little lace curtain (circa 1982). At some point they wallpapered the room in a lovely plaid (also circa 1982) and instead of removing the curtain rod holders, they cut slits in the wallpaper and covered over them. What cracked me up is that they probably spent $50 for that plate glass mirror (and glued it in with construction adhesive). It cost me about $11 in sheet rock, 2x4's, and joint compound to cover it over properly.

The other thing that cracked me up is the linoleum flooring (now this was more circa 1988 or so). They ran out of the peel n stick vinyl tiles. Instead of spending $10 for another box, they glued a piece of baseboard to the floor.

I'm contemplating finding out where they live now, walk into their garage, take all their tools away, look them dead in the eye and say "NO! You can't have these!"

ROFL...! I hear ya! The owners before us 'remodeled' this place, too. Instead of crown molding in the hallway, we have chair rail...I kid you not!...around the ceiling! DH said a similar thing...used a couple'a different words, tho...lol

Plus they didn't quite have enough moding to go around the bathroom door and mitre one of the 45 corners properly...so there was 1 45 corner and 1 blunt cut with a gap in between.

Its' worse because the house was built in 54 by a builder...it was his personal family home. Everything craftmanship wise that he did is PERFECT! The previous owner was buying the house from her boss who owned the company...she was his accountant and "like a daughter to him" which was why he didn't prosecute her for embezzeling $100K, discovered by the tax accountant/real estate agent who sold me the house. When she was about to get caught, she ripped out the Jennaire appliances she'd bought, fled to TX, rented the house out, and was collecting rent but not paying the mortgage.

The house roof underlayment is tongue and groove cedar, the outer walls/siding underlayment is the same, the walls and ceilings also tongue and groove...no paneling. The house was made out of yellow pine and is so solid you have to drill to mount anything on supporting structure since you cannot hammer into it. We caught flack from an ins co once...the house was a 'risk' to insure. How's that, I wondered...it withstood every hurricane, storm, tornado, wind...whatever since '54. We were living here when FL got 4 hurricanes in one season...the 100-yr-old granddaddy oaks we wanted the lot for protected the house so well not a single shingle was lifted. Risk...? :D Of course, there is so much shade we must let the weeds go to seed to have anything green out there...lol
