No not talking about my bed or the sofa. Millie has recently started liking to jump on things I feel are way to high she will get on my office desk and last night whle bathing my son i look over and she had jumped from my vanity chair onto my bathroom counter:eek:. of course noe the chair in moved. I worry i wont be aboe to stop her in time and she'll jump and get injured. I guess i am going to have to remove anythng that enables her to get on things that are too high. It's just like baby proofing though there is always something you miss!!

Yes you have to baby proof any room that they are in, they are quick and agile. Millie sounds a lot like Priss, always looking for something to get into. LOL

Gracie went through the jumping stage during her first year. Amazing what they can do even though they are so little!:eek: I had to move one of our kitchen chairs over to the wall and keep all the other chairs pushed in so she could not jump onto the table. She found she could get up there but would cry because she could not get down. She doesn't do it anymore but there are still many of the puppy proofing rules that I keep in place to protect her from herself.:rolleyes:

I swear this new puppy of mine Miss Mia is the same way, last night I watched as she kept backing up, run full on and try to clear the bathtub to get in it and for the record this is the pup that acts like a cat in the bath! She is a Biewer and a long legged one at that! The other night I saw her walking the kitchen table to the Buffet cabinet....I didn't want to startle her and cause her to jump, so I yelled at hubby..."make sure the chairs are always pushed in"!!!!

The chairs around my dinnette table are kind of "open" with a reed looking decoration that makes the back of the chair...4 pieces of wood that come up from the seat area, and then fan out, with a space between each "reed" , that is larger up at the top and then closes up narrow down to the bottom of the back of the chair. One of mine was eyeing the space between two of those reeds, and figured she could jump through the reeds and land on the table! She launched herself, got her head through the space between two of these "reeds" ...but then promptly slid down to the narrow part of the chair, essentially HANGING HERSELF ON THE BACK OF THE CHAIR, WITH HER HEAD THRU THE BACK OF THE CHAIR, AND HER BODY DANGLING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BACK OF THE CHAIR!!!...If I had not been RIGHT THERE, and had been in another room, he would have hung herself, either broken her neck between the reeds or strangled herself between the reeds.....all this happened in less than 15 seconds, right before my eyes and as I was lunging up off the couch to get to her....so NOW, I have king size pillow cases over the backs of my dinette chairs to keep this from happening again.....forget "House Beautiful" decor!!! My entire home is designed around Yorkie proofing!!! baby gates blocking every entrance and exit, plus additional "cross fencing" in every room...pillow cases over the chair backs.....etc,etc,etc.. but they are worth it!

Yet another reason I'm glad I don't let them have the run of the house when I'm not home, who would have thought? Goodness me, this must have been very scary..glad it turned out ok.

She sounds like my male... I've caught him on the stove!! He climbed on top of an ice chest I had set next to it and he smelled something yummy up there! Oh gosh, imagine if the stove had been hot?! He is sooo bad lol... It is definitely true that you have to baby proof everything... He was 3 when he did it, so it wasn't even a puppy thing!

that sounds horrifying. Glad you were close by. My shs tzu is more the jumper then our I have caught her on top ove the cofee table several times,
which is fairly high. Since the move we bought new furniture, so now neither of the dogs cannot get up on kitchen chais or kitchen table. the chairs are so hight that my feet dangle, lol. The last vet visit I was told her left leg had a minor LP , so minor the vet was not concerned, however,he did make a not about it Suzi has a had time jumping on things.

Yep you have to move the chairs far away from furniture. One day while we weren't looking, Bailey hopped up on a chair that was close to some cabinets with a counter. He grabbed a nik nak and it was all in 100's of pieces by the time we came back in the room.

I know exactly what you mean. It must be in their blood to see so many that climb like this. It is funny, but I also feel it is a health hazard. I do believe my Mylee jumping from the bathroom counter off to teh slick vinyl floo when she heard me coming (knowing she would be in trouble) contributed to her hip displasia. So we blocked off that part of the house, and make sure all chairs are pushed in under the dining table or she'll be on it. We had sugar cookies spread out across the table once, and came home to paw prints imbedded in them. What in the world are we going to do with them? LOL:eek::p

I understand this one too. I had to remove several things so KS couldn't jump up on things she should not be on. Since I did that, now she likes to hide under anything she can squeeze under. But I'd rather her be under than over. LOL

EXACTLY!!! It was a SUPER lesson for my son who often feels bad that I insist all babies are crated if we are not at home....I DO NOT EVER LET THESE BABIES OUT OF MY SIGHT FOR EVEN A FEW MINUTES....THEY ARE ALWAYS SUPERVISED!!!! following me from room to room if I move.......it takes only a second for them to be critically injured or even killed....I have thought of just about every imaginable thing these babies could possibly get into, but this had not occured to me. I thought I was safe with the chairs pusheed in...never DREAMED one would try to jump THRU the open design on the chair back! And if I had not been there, it would have all been over for her but the hole digging.

Sounds like Joel, he figured out how to get on the computer desk by jumping on one couch then the next couch and then up on the desk.
