I think my neighbor Abuses his dog. I have no proof besides these loud thuds and whines/cries that I hear behind the fence. My room mate claims he's 100% sure the dog is being abused. I don't know for sure, maybe the dog has a pain problem or ailment. It's an outdoor large dog and I always hear thuds and slams against the fence followed by a growl or cry. The dog is completely quiet before this. Anyways I don't really talk to these neighbors so I don't really know whats up. Also the man and woman next door are constantly fighting...screaming at the top of their lungs for hours. I only hear the dog whining when the man is there alone in the back yard. What should I do:confused: |
Thats horrible. I would call animal control anonymously and encourage them to visit the house. I know I get people have outside dogs, but I for one think it's crazy and never understood why JMO. |
Can you contact the rspca its called in the UK not sure what it is in the US anonymously to ask them to check it out? |
Thats a tough situation, but I think you have enough reason to take action...I would call animal control. They should come check it out and do something if abuse is happening....if not, you dont know the neighbors anyway so you're not losing any friends. If they confront you, just explain your concerns and then you can always call the police as a last resort if they hassle you. |
I would report them. I didnt do it to one of my neighbors and I should have. but other people did and animal control sited them a few times .They left that dog out in all weather and I heard the Son and the dad beat him. We went out this spring and he was completely emanciated and at deaths door we called it in and animal control removed the dog. Someone from the neighbor hood adopted the dog and he looks alot better already. I hated to do that to a neighbor but that dog saved our lives in that our house was on fire and it was his barking about it that woke us up. My Husband would give him sub sandwiches, We had a special place in our hearts for him and Im glad hes in a good home and isnt out in all kinds of weather anymore |
My advice is to call someone who can check out the poor dog. I would rather say I am sorry for making a mistake, (You know what I mean, the person is a wonderful owner and the dog throws it's self against the fence and yelps in excitement when he sees the man.) Than say I am sorry I didn't call someone, they killed that poor dog ! |
Thank you guys. I'm going to anonymously call. The guy is kind of intimidating, so I don't want to confront him, nor do I know what would benefit from confroning him. Of course he will deny it. Maybe the least that happens is the animal control people come and check on him and he stops doing it out of fear. |

Is there any way you or a neighbor you trust can see into that yard...to get a better idea of the situation first? It sounds suspicious enough, and maybe you want to log what you hear, dates, times, etc. so a proper investigation could occur. |
