My baby is too submissive My yorkie, Minnie is 1.5 yrs old. She's just too sweet which worries me. She never barks at strangers. She'd sit on my lap for hours. My late beloved yorkie was so feisty, she'd bark at anything, run everywhere, so playful. When Minnie was a puppy, I loved to tease her, and she'd bite me playfully, nipping and yapping. I never hit, never even mad at her, showered her with hugs and kisses, love her to pieces. Lately she becomes very calm, submissive. No matter how much I tease her, she won't bite, nip or play chase anymore. She eats normally, picky as usual. When I kiss her or talk to her she wouldnt look into my eyes. I wonder what's wrong with her, because I want my old naughty, funny, playful yorkie back. Somehow I feel guilty for her, did I do something wrong? Did I hurt her feelings? |
All yorkies are different. Does not mean there is something wrong with her. Be happy she does not bark at people. My oscar is also very quiet but he is healthy and happy. Sounds like your little girl is just growing up |
Hi there and welcome to yt !!!!! |
Thank you MyOscar, guess I have to get used to her new personality, she's a teenager now lol. Thank you JoyceAdams :) Currently Minnie's all over the place trying to avoid the camera, so far my best shot is an apparition of fur, no success in getting pic of her face yet. |

yeah, isnt that funny, when you see a perfect shot so you get the camera out and soon as they see it they are gone.... |
Just be grateful she's not a teenager asking for a prada handbag a car and college tuition. Teegy used to be sooooooooooooo playful and then calmed down a lot, he's also quiet but a great guard dog and just loves me. Now that I got him a brother he is pulling out his toys again and doing his psycho puppy act on me again and I'm so very happy to see that coming out. Maybe she needs a brother..... |

Mine is like that. I've only had the privilege of being his mom from 12 months and on. He's not a barker, but he does growl when nervous or annoyed. Other than that, he is a quiet little live bug. Don't worry. There are other quiet babies out there. |
Timid Cesar was timid and submissive and the rescue had trouble placing him. He was the last puppy left and I took him even though I wanted a female. He is a golden yorkie who acts like he has been beat. If you point at him, he will roll over on his back. If you put a paper towel on your head he will not look at you. He has never been mistreated or spanked. I never raise my voice to him but if I yell at the cat, he acts scared and I have to reassure him. He is not timid with the dogs and plays well with them. I don't know what his problem is, but I love him to pieces. Since I got my female yorkie, he has been jealous and is more assertive and more friendly. He will bark at people that come in but if he feels scared, he will stand behind one of the big dogs just in case. My jack russell mix barks if a leaf falls from a tree, if someone crosses their leg, etc. Not barking can be a good thing. |
