How do your yorkies ride in the car? When we got Phoebe last summer I always had her in her crate on the floor. Once she got too big for the crate, she would sit on someone's lap and they'd hold her. Then winter came and she only went out a few times for grooming. Now that it's warmed up a bit she'll be out and about with us a lot more. I don't feel that it's safe for her on my kids' lap. The options I've seen and considered so far are the car seat booster, travel bag (which can be buckled to a seat), or a crate. How does your fur baby ride in the car? |
well i suppose that is a personal preference but my two little ones ride in a car booster seat. my big dog has a harness that clips to the seat belt. |
My two furkids ride in their Snoozer car seats. |
My two have a car seat. I can't imagine if I didn't have one what it would be like:laugh: Luna would want to be in my lap and Izzy would probably try to hang out the window:p Even a fender bender could leave a dog their size seriously injured or worse, so it's worth every cent;) |
We have a Snoozer Car Seat as well and just love it! Katie Scarlett has plenty of room, is safe, and does very well in it. She loves car rides. We have the basic one in pink vinyl fabric. I got the vinyl because I thought it would wipe off easy and it does. We also bought the little food/water tray thingie that clips on to it for long car rides. It has been one of the best purchases we have made. Here is a link for you: Dog Car Seat - Pet Car Seat - Lookout Pet Car Seat - Snoozer Pet Products This is the one we have: Snoozer Lookout I Pet Car Seat- All Other Fabrics - Snoozer Pet Car Seats - Dog Car Seats And the little clip on food/water thingie: Pet Car Seat Travel Rack - Snoozer Pet Accessories Hope that helps! :) |
I've ordered a ar seat. but right now traveling with ziggy can be hard as he gets car sick :/ |
We have a snoozer too , but wish we had the vinyl- Abby gets sick, sick, sick! Hope she outgrows it. Good thing the covers are removable/washable. If I didn't have this seat I would at least get a harness that buckles to the seatbelt (Paw Rider)and put a small round dog bed on the seat. |
I have the outward hound car seats in small. The small is fine for Raelle, but Orion barely fits and he is 10lbs. I will have to look into buying a snoozer for him...just unsure of the size. the small outward hound says up to 18lbs, but it is too small for my bruiser! |
Truffles on Snoozer Console car seat in middle of us and no more car sick! She still get sick with booster seat in back seat for long ride... she is very short and small so snoozer console is better because she can see front window and side and me :) right by my shoulder but booster in back seat I even put cushion on the bottom but she still can't see much on side window.... |
I use an Easy Rider harness and extender which attaches to the seat belt. It allows her to look out the window and when she's wearing her K-9 optix glasses, it's a hoot to see driver reaction! |
My boys are always in their Snoozer My Buddy seat :) |
If we are only driving around town the car seat is used. If we are going on a trip on the highway she is in a hard carrier that is strapped into the car with a seat belt. I used to be a paramedic and sadly humans were not the only fatalities and injuries we used to see at motor vehicle accidents. |

Luci rides in her carrier strapped in to the seat belt.:happyboun:p |
Molly and Lilly are in there carrier strapped to a seat belt so if there is an accident they won't be hit by anything thrown around the car. They just snuggle down and sleep till we arrive. It has a clip on dish I can put water and food in for long trips and they have some toys in there too. |
I have a special seatbelt harness, keeps them in place, I put a pillow beneath them so they can nap. Recently, there was another case in the news of an accident where the owner was fine, but their beloved pup parished. You can't be too careful in a car people and animals can't defy gravity. |

1 Attachment(s) Mine are always in a car seat. I started the little kids when we first got them and Yogi actually gets scared to sit on your lap instead of in his seat. Here's Gracie Ruth. "Let's go Momma! I'm ready to shop!" Attachment 369513 |
strapped to the roof on a surf board hahaha not. when I rent a car they are in the carrier in the back seat which gets seatbealted in |
My sweetie and I have been having this debate for about 2 months now. My mom came to visit and it came up and she co-signed with me ;), so I guess we will be getting CoCo a car seat!!!! :p |
2 Attachment(s) Lexi rides in her carseat. She doesn't seem to mind at all. She can see out the window and seems very comfy. I got this one at Petsmart and it seems real secure. Buckles into the car seat belt and a three point harness hooks to her buddy belt. There is extra storange below the seat and bowls that attach seat. |
Oliver had his first road trip this past weekend. We used his crate in the backseat, strapped in...but door was open because he falls apart on me when we close it. I like the console seat, I'm going to look into that one. Oliver kept trying to sit there but it made me nervous unless we can secure him. |
Bentley is in his carrier strapped in with a seat belt and he HATES it. He will not stop barking! Maybe I should look into those snoozers... |
I went and bought the Petco Car Booster Seat for now because I was too impatient to wait for one to come in the mail. We'll see how she does with that and if she loves car rides maybe Santa can bring her a super nice Snoozer seat. |
My babies rode on someone's lap usually or tied into the backseat with their harness & leash, but recently I bought a new car and it has white leather interior and its kind of nice so I am reverting back to the crate. I really think and my husband keeps saying to get the car booster seat, so I'm thinking that's what I'm going to do for them, they will be happier to look out the window and be safer than a lap and not ruin my seats with little claws! |
The Yorkies ride in booster and wear harnesses. Buddy wears a doggie cat belt. |
