I have 2 Staffordshire who cuddle up together to sleep and can play rough with each other without hurting. My old girl yorkie x was one of a pair of girls sadly her sister died 2 years ago. We have now added 2. Yorkie girls to our brood. I feel animals need a companion of the same species as themselves. We did have single dogs when our children were small but I felt they were lonely at times. Don't think it matters boy or girl but might be nice having one of each. |
I only have one, and i can tell you i am counting down the days till I can get my second. So i vote for two yorkies :D |
I have only ONE Truffles and I'm happy to babying her just her :) as 3 rd child in house. I don't want to have one more but some times.... like rainy day I would love to take her to day care but she is the smallest dog in small dogs day care area and afraid of other pups "Pawing Her".... I just went to check one of doggy day care today that it was very expensive pet resort and facility was wonderful and price is not bad at all but just small dogs group was still big dogs for her... :( so I might considering in feature 2nd pup for company to her after I retire and stay home mom for my yorkies :) but till then.... I will be on floor to tag and pull toys with her and be play mate |
The biggest drawback to having 2 is that it is very difficult to travel with 2 if you travel by yourself. At my house we have one dog per person so it still works out fine for us. If you don't travel much, or you have someone to help with the dogs, having 2 is great! |
thanks everyone! Thanks everyone for your in put. I think we need to go yorkie shopping! :-) |
You received some excellent input and advice on having two yorkies. Personally, I would never have two yorkies. I am content with Tatiana. We include her in every aspect of our life including going out and vacations. We take her everywhere. My husband and I love this. I don't think I can feasibly do that with two yorkies, and I certainly won't ever leave one yorkie at home, and take out just one of them. Decide what is right and good for you. I'm certain you'll make the right decision. |
That is something we talked about too. We take Mini Cooper just about everywhere, traveling too. (he is simply the best airport & plane dog) However, without going to "tiny tots" day camp, he seems lonely. As much as he does everything with me during the day, he still seems like he misses playing with other dogs. Our last little guy was an only child for 13yrs but he was never as social & playful as Cooper. |
i just got lola who will be five years old in october. cedric turned 1 in march. the first week i was afraid i had made a mistake....two weeks later cedric and lola are in love. watching them play is seriously the cutest thing i have witnessed and they tucker each other out. cedric used to be at my feet when i got home from work begging to play or go for a walk...now im like where's cedric....oh he on the bed playing with lola!! it has been the best decision since getting cedric. they just have so much fun together. |
Okay here is the opinion of a person who has had her second Yorkie for oh an entire 4 and 1/2 weeks. looooooooooooooooove it. Teegy has never been happier and is the best big brother to his annoying little pest of a brother Tufty. I did the math, vet care/food/treats/other expendibles annually against my personal income and I can afford it, yeahhhh. Now next step, already had a breeder so it was now work the budget so you can afford to buy the dog. Done, one bottle of red wine a week instead of four.....over a few months dog paid for. Last night I took them onto the yard and they tore around after each other like crazy bunnies for 20 minutes I stood laughing. They groom each other, the snuggle and sleep with each other. Tug of war happens constantly, Teegy is playing with his toys a lot more now and they steal them from each other. My personal calendar is focused around home and my dogs, my crazy party days are over. At the end of the day, if you can afford the time for them and it's within your means financially, I give a resounding two massive thumbs up to 2 Yorkies. |
Jazzymom I haven't slept in on a weekend in almost 3 years since I got Teegy hahaha I feel ya. I have a carrier that's suitable to put both of them in if I need to travel on the Go train, by cab or the Subway. Mostly they walk, if they can't come with me I ain't going. I am fortunate that all my friends are massive animal lovers and they are incredibly welcome in their homes. Funniest thing is in my circle of friends I believe in the past three years 9 dogs have been added to the mix so it makes for lots of fun whenever we get together. |
Yep... I am looking forward to it! Now I just have to find the best little personality to fit with Mini Cooper. The breeder I got him from in AZ hasn't called me back yet. :-( I sure wish there was a great breeder closer to us, (Orange County CA) |
go to the breeder section and see if you can locate a respectable breeder in Orange County. Look on the AKC registry Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club here I found this for you |
When we bought our 2 Yorkies Sir Bentley and Princess Prissy we did it so they would have each other to play with, but we knew we was getting "DOUBLE TROUBLE" so be ready for it and the grooming and vet bill's are double so have a good purse where you can afford all the treatment they need to have. Wouldn't trade either of them. |
Thanks! you're a doll! I will check them out. Sounds like you live in NY? New York was our first trip with Cooper when he was just 6mo old, we went for Thanksgiving. He even got to watch the Macy's parade. He is spoiled... looking forward to spoilling two. LOL |
Oh ya, our vet knows us real well.... Cooper is almost two years old and we have already been to the ER twice and countlees times to the vet, just because I am paranoid something may be wrong. LOL |
