Blood coming from butt Thanks My 5 year old 2.5 lb Yorkie was bleeding slightly from the rear end the other day, like raw blood, not a lot, but enough for concern, so we have been keeping a close eye on her, she seams still perky until today she seams like she doesn't have the energy today as normal, she still doesn't seam sick, we discovered just a little more blood on the sheets yesterday morning, not much just a little. I thought I would post for any info you good folks have. Thanks Junodale:confused: |

Well, some dogs sometimes show some bright blood in their stool if their rectum is irritated. But, it seems like you're saying your kiddo was bleeding from the butt without having a stool? I dunno, I think I'd be taking her in. Did you recently switch or food or change anything else? |

If she doesnt have as much energy today, along with the small amount of bleeding i would get to the vet asap!! If she has any bleeding internally u need to find out as soon as possible. Because treatment should start the sooner the better. Unless its an infected anal gland or something, even that is serious and should be seen by a doctor today. Good luck, i hope its nothing too serious. But no amount of blood from the rectum is normal. Some causes could obviously be alot less serious than some, but never normal. |

Oh geez, blood from the bum? I would get her in asap if you are still seeing it. |

agreed i would be calling and on the way to visit the vet. hope your baby is ok and it is not serious. |

I think you should really take her to the vet. |

I think I would take a visit to the vet as well just to be on the safe side. Hope your little one is ok. |

Question: is she spayed? If not, are you sure she's not in heat? |
|
Blood from the rectum, is not normal. At 2.5 lbs, your baby does not have a large amount of cirrculating blood in her system to be loosing ANY, over a period of time! Hopefully, this is nothing serious, but you do need to have it looked at, sooner than later....it has already been a period of time she has been doing this and today her energy level has dropped, making it symptomatic. Please have her checked....a little blood over a period of time can be a major problem. |

Also, if she is indeed in heat, she would seem tired and have less energy than usual. Her appetite would lessen, too. |

Exactly. I know when Gabby was in heat, all she did was sleep. She wasn't playful at all and didn't really seem like herself. I was about to pack up and take her to the vet when I saw a little spot of blood on her dog bed. I felt like a real idiot for a minute! LOL I guess the lethargy and moody behavior is doggie PMS? |

Looking for an update on this tiny hiney! Was it indeed coming from the rectum, and if so, what did the vet say about it? |
|
how is the little one? |
