Snoozer bike basket arrived! The Snoozer bike basket I ordered for Kiko came in today's mail.:) I am not ready to ride with her yet. I am planning on getting her used to the basket while I get used to riding a bike again. I put her in it and feed her bits of carrots (her favorite treat). After she gets used to sitting in it in the house, I am planning on doing the same thing with it attached to the bike, then push the bike with her in the basket, and ultimately riding with her. For those of you who use bike baskets, does this sound like a good plan? Any suggestions? |
Would love to see a pic of it,,,enjoy. |
No suggestions really, I just put Sami in ours and went. She was a little freaked out at first but seemed to like it and did fine. I love the Snoozer basket! |
Oh how fun!!! Please do a review of it after y'all get going. I am looking at one of those myself. I'd love to take KS on bike rides with me. Have fun! :) |
It sounds like you have a great plan. Getting her used to it is important so that she doesn't freak when you put it on the bike. You should take a picture once she's used to it and you get to go riding! |
I kind of made my own bike carrier for Gizmo when he was little, but now he's too big and I'm looking for another one. Let me know how you like it. |
1 Attachment(s) Here's Kiko in the Snoozer on the living room floor. I am hoping to put it on my bike today and make sure it fits well. It was raining yesterday, so I didn't test the fit. I'll update as I go along. It could be a while (hopefully not too long) before I ride with her because it has been a long time since I have ridden, and I am dreadfully out of shape. My impressions of the seat so far are positive. It goes together easily, looks like it will be easy to attach to the bike, and seems sturdy enough for my little teapot. If it were any smaller or Kiko was any bigger, the seat would be too small. Kiko is on the larger side. A good weight for her is about 10.5, but she currently weighs about 12. Some of the pictures online and even on the packaging made it look like it was a dusty pick and brown which it is not. The description says it is pink and gray. It is a light, but somewhat bright pink with black and gray trim. |
^^ oh wow, its so cute. if i had a bike i'd definately get one |
OMG!! How much fun is this going to be! I am SURE there is a way to secure her in the basket, right? You sure dont want her to decide chasing a cat is more fun than riding in a basket on your bike! |
I bike ride all the time with mine, but it is a different style carrier, hopefully yours has a rigid hard bottom and it is a MUST to secure them in. My advice is to walk the bike with her in the carrier for at least 5 min several times before she goes out in it. I also let Lola bring a toy or two, which she squeaks for half the ride, we will go for as long as two hours, but she always gets a walk before and after, so make sure you leave time for that. |
So cute. If I put that on the floor, Copper would jump right in! His seat in the car look similar. He loves that. I wear a front pack when we bike. Copper is harnessed in with a lead to his harness vest. Our first time out, he spotted a squirrel and tried to leap out. After that, he realized he couldn't and was fine. He loved the biking. Anyway, the other poster before me was right, just make sure he is attached to the seat somehow so he can't jump out. |
aaw Kiko is so cute in her new ride. |
There is a security strap to hook to the harness. The bottom has a covered padded board and then a metal center support. DBlain, the walk is such a good idea. Kiko loves going for walks and is always calmer a few minutes after one. So the walk before will likely make for a safer ride for us and the walk after will help her think of bike rides as leading to a walk. So far, I am still just having her sit in it for tiny amounts of time several times a day. I did strap it to my bike yesterday to make sure it would fit securely. I think we will be moving to her sitting in it with it on the bike soon. |
