I'm a newbie :)Hi everyone. I came upon this site when I started thinking about getting a yorkie. It has been so helpful. Let me begin by telling you a little bit about how I fell (in love) with these angels. A couple of months ago, my husband woke me "to see something outside" after dropping our older girls at the bus stop. Well, it was about 40 degrees(in florida) so I was not too happy. Well as I walked to the car, I saw a small yorkie in the passenger seat. My husband told me that he saw her wandering the streets and picked her up. He said couldn't resist (that face):) I was shocked bc this is kind of out of character for him. We have two big dogs, German shepherds, and he has always has a preference for those type of dogs, certainly not toy dogs. I, on the other hand had been trying to convince him to let me get a smaller dog. Anyway, to wrap it up this dog was precious. She was just so sweet and even the other dogs liked her. I knew she must belong to someone so I took her to our vet to check for a microchip. She did and we were able to contact the owner, an elderly gentleman, who of course was relieved to get her back. After that incident, we were hooked. I researched the breed to make sure it would be a good fit. My concern honestly was that I had bigger dogs. I didn't want to have a dangerous situation for the little one. But I was reassured that they could get along. My dogs have lived peacefully with cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and currently rats and a hamster so I was hopeful. :) I am happy to report that my baby came home this past Thursday. His name is Brandon. Let me tell you I never thought I could love an animal so quicky. I truly do see why people treat them like their children. Dont get me wrong. I love my shepherds. They are smart, loyal and beautiful. However, when my little bundle of fur looks up at me with those brown eyes, my heart melts. We are blessed to have him and I'm so glad to be a part of your forum. I'm not sure how to send pics so you guys can see him. P.s. my shepherds ( who are both female) have welcomed Brandon. However, I supervise all their time together. |

What a great story! My last baby was a Great Dane who has been gone about 3 years so I am used to bigger dogs too. But soon I will have my new baby and I can't wait! Looking forward to getting to know you and Brandon.:animal-pa |
What a great story, It's great that he was found by animal lovers that took such great care to find the owner. Your little Brandon is so cute! Sounds like he'll have lots of friends! :) |
Welcome and congrats! Brandon is adorable!!! |
Congratulations. He is just adorable! Wait until his personality grows! You will love him even more! I used to have a little Maltese and a Collie. The only time we had issues was when we would come home and they both would be excited and meet us at the door. The Collie would be doing her happy dance and occasionally by accident bump into the Maltese. Well, my Maltese would get so mad she would grab that Collie's ankle and let her have it! Of course I had the Maltese first so she was in charge. Your little guy should fit in fine with a terrier personality. |
Brandon is such a cutie! :) |
I think the rule is this... If you let a Yorkie into your space, (car, house, yard) for even one minute....they put you under a spell. You are then hooked on thier sweet faces and wonderful personalities forever!!! My Hubby was hooked when we found Fizz...opened the door for Max and Titus to be with us now. Our two wonderful rescue Yorkies. |
Welcome! Brandon sure is adorable! |
