Only one testicle?!?! We took Tut to the vet today and they told us he only has one testicles. The thing is I don't trust my vet. So how old should Tut be for both the testicles do drop? He is six months old and is a little more than three and a half pounds. Thanks for the help Ashlee. :cry2: |
Gosh I don't know the answer, but I'd get a second opinion. |
Yorkies are notorious about dropping testicles later than most....just as some females do not have their first heat cycle until they are over a year old. Is he to be used in a breeding program?? If not, go ahead and have him neutered in another several months, when the growth plates are finished growing. |
I had a maltese that only had one testicle. We waited a bit for the neuter but it never dropped. This will make neutering a tad more expensive but other than that - really nothing to worry about. Unless you were planning on showing him - then it's a problem. |
If you don't trust your vet you need to find one that you do trust. It is very important to have a good vet you trust. |
I am looking for a new vet as we speak. |
Our son just had his Westie fixed and only one of his had dropped. They just made one extra little incision, he did great :). |
Ziggy has one testicle too. apparently its quite common in yorkies. Was hoping it would drop coz i didnt want him to go through a more extensive surgery, but it hasnt. so.. but i spoke to my vet and he said its still not going to be too hectic, just a bit more involved. plus we felt around and his other testicle is pretty close, so thats giving me comfort. Hope all works out with your baby |
Dinky had one undescended. It lowered itself just enough to get it out during his neutering. |
