Dogs can tell time! I swear it's true! If I am doing something & go past the normal time they eat, I get told about it:D I wonder just how popular this behavior is? |
Yes they can. I almost always go to bed at the same time every night. My crazy dogs will be sitting at the bedroom door whining cause they know its time for bed |
Omgosh Coco and Georgie can definitely tell time. Especially Coco she has no problem letting us know it's after 5 and she hasn't had dinner yet;) |
oh All my pack is time driven, they know when is breakfast, going to the yard to pee and poo, then when is dinner time, if I don't remember I get the barky treatment, and specially the night time ritual because they get treats before bed..LOL we are slaves to the doggy rituals...LOL hugs, |
Isn't that the truth. Mine will let me know if I'm 1 minute late with dinner and they also know when bedtime is too. |
Reminds me of a time when my son was staying at my house and caring for my pups. He told me that he was going to cover all of the clocks so that they would stop waking him up so early. :D |
Mine know what time to get up even on the weekend when we can sleep in:p They know supper time and let me know very verbally it is 8pm and time for a treat of green beans. Jada will go to the fridge and sit and stare at the door if the barking doesn't work:D |
Yep mine know time for sure. I had to pick hubby from the airport today (home on leave) and we stopped for an early dinner on the way home. Of course it was after 4:30 and they were telling me about it when I came in and then they saw daddy. That stopped them in their tracks. LOL |
Absolutely...cats, too. Mine are either tapping their watches or taping their feet if I'm late with anything. :D |

I think my girls double-team... Bella lets me know it's time for breakfast and supper, while Tillie sits by our front door at the same time every weekday waiting for our children's school busses to arrive. Beauty and brains ;) ! |
If I'm still on the computer about 11:00 pm, Roxy will sit & bark at me letting me know it's time to go to bed. All her beds are waiting for her. DH is already in bed. Doesn't matter, it's time for me to go to bed. Geez! I feel like I'm a kid still living at home with the folks harping at me. lol! I started looking direct at her and saying, "Now look, Miss Boss, I am a grown up woman and can make my own decisions. I'm not ready for bed yet, but you can go to bed anytime you want. I get to make the rules!" She just sits there & looks at me like 'who does she think she is' look on her face. Then will turn and leave the room. lol Sleeping late in the mornings in OK, as she likes sleeping in... like a teenager. It's even OK if we go somewhere (like out to breakfast) without her, so she can sleep in. |
Pixie can absolutely tell time. If it's a minute after their usual meal time, or treat time she lets me know. Even if I feed them late one day because I wasn't home, come the time for the next meal Pixie will let me know. So I know it's not her tummy telling her she can tell time. lol |
Sakura can definitely tell when 7:00 rolls around. She comes and stares at me til I look, then starts with the little woofs and pawing the floor. If I ignore her still will start to bark. If I don't feed her dinner at exactly 7:00 she thinks will waste away. When we are at work at 5:30 she knows it is time to go home. And she starts barking like a crazy thing. My boss and co-workers think it is the funniest thing. She loves driving me nuts! :p I lucked out with her trying to wake me on mornings though. She knows when the alarm goes off it is time to get up and will try her hardest to make me get out of bed. But if there is no alarms she sleeps. |
My cats and yorkies both do. The cats know what time they get their friskies food and the yorkies know what time is on alot of things like around when its time for my husband to get home from work for the day they will lay by the window and wait for him |
Tibbe has a clock inside, I think, & barks at me if I stay in bed too long since he wants to get up & go down the hall into the den where he can have all his fun things & the big windows and start his day. At night, he wants to go to bed between 9:00 & 10:00 p.m. & will growl & grumble until I follow him to bed. If I won't - am on the computer or watching something on TV I want to finish, he will finally give up grumbling at me & walk out on me - giving me a long look over his back. But some nights he stays with me in the den if I stay up late but I never know what determines whether he stays with me or goes on to bed. |
Oh Yes, All mine can tell time & they can spell too.;) |
Chachi can spell too |
Luci let's me know when it her time to play in the morning. If on the computer she bark and paws my leg till she get's her hour of fetch each morning. Aren't Yorkies amazing?:D |
They sure can! My guys know exactly when it's mealtime - they literally have it down to the minute. If I'm running late, they will let me know! They also know what time I come home from work, and they've learned how long it takes me to run errands like shopping, etc. - they will start dancing around and getting antsy if it takes me longer than usual. They also seem to understand every word we say - whether it's directed at them or not. |
Bentley lets me know when it is time for his meals 8am and 4pm and his treat times 12pm and 7pm. He could be soundly asleep and the next minute he is up waiting for it! lol My Boxer doesn't do this but I think he figures my brother will remind Mom!! lol |
I'm loving all the Yorkie timeclock stories! :) Here's a typical scenario: Mom's on the computer. It's 6:01 pm. Bella (usually it's her, sometimes it'll be Tuffy) will come sit at my feet. If I take no notice of her, she'll get up on the couch beside me & whine a little. If I STILL don't get up, she'll put up her front paws on my arm so that I HAVE to stop. Now, when they're eating, that's sometimes fun too. Bella gobbles her food down literally. Tuffy likes to take his time. I think it's from us free feeding him for the 1st year or so. Some days it'll take him 20-30 minutes to eat & I'll admit to getting a little impatient. So I'll say "Momma's gonna pick it up". INSTANTLY, his head is in the bowl! :D Mornings, Bella is awake & ready to eat at 7 am. She'll paw my head if I don't get up. I've learned to sleep under the sheet! :p Tuffy knows when his Dad is coming home even before I do. I think he hears the semi truck. Or the motorcycle. OK, story time's over...off to sew! |
My dogs know when it's time for their nightly treats. They start bugging me at about the same exact time every night. |
Mine can spell too! Elsy hates for me to be on the computer and will get up on my lap and paw at my hands. |
Oh, my two definitely know when it's time to eat. They do NOT let me forget about breakfast and dinner. |
