The First Night Home! hi im curious about how the first night is going to be so can you guys tell me how your first night went.:) |
We were blessed with a wonderful first night at home. We sat Katie Scarlett up next to us in her potty training puppy apartment (it's a crate with a bedroom on one side and potty area on the other). She barked twice and went straight to sleep. She slept all night and was as good as she could be. I woke up around 3 am to check on her and she was fine. I got her out for a moment and held her. She went right back to sleep and I put her back. She slept with her Snuggle Puppy. It was a wonderful experience for us. Good luck on your first night! |
Congratulations on your new little one and welcome to YT. Our first night went pretty smoothly. I'm not a crate person so Rylee slept in a very cozy little bed (it had high sides so she couldn't get out) right next to my son's bed. He wanted to have her with him the first night. He said is was to let me sleep but I think he just wanted her with him (he was 20 at the time) LOL. Anyway, she woke up a couple of times and he kind of rocked her back to sleep. She has been with us since that night. She is now IN bed with us  sleeps as close to my husband as she can get!!!! Enjoy your new baby........they are wonderful!!!! Please post pictures! |
Thanks and I posted some in the gallery or on this site somewhere lol!:) |
Congrats on the new addition to your family! The first night for us was all about figuring out what Max wanted. :) For instance, I learned Max had a strong aversion to plastic and would not drink out of the travel bowls I had for the car trip. I also learned that for his safety, I needed an xpen. We bought that the next morning. It made him feel comfortable and secure because he had one at his breeder's home. Best advice for a new pup -- make sure your new baby gets adequate rest or downtime. It's easy to over-handle pups because everyone wants to meet them and play with them. Enjoy! |
We were very lucky since Miss Priss was very content with her crate and never cried at all. Congrats... |
Callie whined and cried all night and her crate was to big and she pooed in it at around 3am. Puppy hood is hard but it was so worth it. Callie will be turning 5 in two weeks and I could not imagine my life with out her. |
Congrats on your new baby! Sheldon's 1st night home went unexpectedly great, he slept in his crate next to our bed. He whined for a minute and went to sleep. He slept from 9 pm til 6 am, I was shocked! Although the rescue group lady said he slept with his brothers from 10 til 6 in the morning but I though he would miss his brothers. |
thanks for the replies :) |
Georgie whined for about 15 minutes in his crate next to our bed. I took him out and put him in bed with us and he has never been in a crate since;) While my sleep wasn't as comfortable he was (and is) my baby so I figured we would all adjust and we have. He sleeps with us but we are all more comfortable now. All 5 of us in the bed (my husband, sometimes my 4 year old skin son, Boxer and Georgie):D |
Sophia was in her xpen and slept for an hour, and then cried until we took her out and she refused to go back to sleep . We eventually gave up the sleeping in the Xpen, and she sleeps in our bed now. Brody, on the other hand, slept right on my pillow the first night home and he slept all through the night. It was wonderful! |
