What a day!!! This evening I had my son outside playing, when this adorable cocker spaniel comes into the yard. Right away the cocker spaniel want to pick a fight with my german shepherd, thank God Nicko my GS is a laid back kind of guy. However, i was afraid at any moment Nicko would say enough with this foolishness and attack back. Then the cocker spaniel decides to run under the fence where my horse is, I just knew he would get stomped on. I finally manage to get this dog into my car and start driving to neighboring houses. So I stop at this house and blow my horn. a lady come outside. I ask her does she own a cocker spaniel, she replies " Why, did you run over my dog?" I told her what had happened, she tells me her dog has never went that far fromhome on his own. I told her I simpley wanted to return him and make sure he was safe. She doesn't say thank you or anything and goes inside. While trying to leave her driveway the dog kept following me, so i had to get out again and ask her to watch the dog untill i left. It wasn't that I expected anything i just thik if it were me I would be so grateful to whoever returned my dog, and i defently would not have went right back inside to leave him outside right away. i dont know maybe I'm just strange!!! |
I have one word for people like that - IDIOT. I know I should not be surprised but there are more rude than kind people on this planet. You did the right thing making sure the little guy was returned home safely, but you will probably be restless now after having witnessed his "mother's" lack of concern. |
Sad... very sad. |
You have a different idea and perception of your dogs. The way that lady acted reminds me of how my grandpa would have acted if one of his hunting hounds wandered off. His farm dogs were never house pets, they had freedom to roam. They were fed cornbread and table scraps. His believed dogs ought to earn their keep. They were for hunting and guarding property. When my grandparents were way up in years and living in town, some one gave Gran a tiny Chihuahua. That was a totaly different story. They spoiled that dog. My grandpa carried Lady Boots in his shirt and pealed apples for her. Gran made her fried eggs, and knitted her little blankets ! Lady Boots wouldn't let anyone near their bed, which was her little throne !All the grandchildren were afraid of the tiny sharp teeth Lady Boots used to keep them in their place. |
To some people dogs are just that "just dogs" I really wanted to lecture this lady she had no fence around her yard and we live next to a road, it is a country road but never the less still a road. Then also the next dog that little guy decides to pick on might not be so laid back as my big lug. |
All i have to say is "poor puppy".. I feel sad he has to have such a cruel idiot parent.. |
People like that should not own a dog. |
If you are like me I bet your blood is still boiling and still surprised by the reaction you got. Dogs rooming loose are one of my big pet peeves, At times I feel like the loose dog police because I have had so many confrontations with people blocks away from where I live about this. I hate to say it but each time I returned a dog that I found wondering I was unhappy I did, because often I would see the same dog loose again. A few years back I would often see a husky on the loose, all over peoples yards, in open garages, turning over trash cans etc. One time he followed me as drove into my garage, and just stood there waiting for me to get out of the car. This made me scared since my first yorkie was attacked by one. I tracked down the owner, who lived several blocks away, and the lady said, Oh that's just like Blue he is so friendly and does not like to be cooped up, most people think of him as the whole neighborhoods dog! I said well I DON"T and if i see him by my house again I am calling animal control. I could not believe she thought it was fine for him to wander all over the place. We don't live in the country either, we are on a lake, lots are at a premium some are only 50' wide and the streets are very curvy and tree covered so you could easily come around a corner and hit a loose dog. |
