she ate animal poop today my baby was outside on a leash, getting some fresh air sniffing around and i guess an animal had pooped in our yard.all i hear is chewing sound..smack smack smack, look down thought it was dirt she was eating tryed to pull it out of her mouth, here it was POOP! it was so smelly, all over her paws and face, she kept licking her lips ,all over my hands! so inside we go right in the tub, scrubbed her all up..so now to try to get all the poop out of her mouth,( were still working on getting use to brushing her teeth) so after several failed attemps of bushing i put thoothpaste on a facecloth and scrubbed all in her mouth. well 3 facecloths full of sticky poop.. how gross, no more kisses for a while. Next stop is the vet..to get deworming medicine.. she had to be weighed to get the right dosage.. shes now 5.3lbs..i though she weighed more than that.. but wow, who would of thought her eating poop would cause that much work lol. i wish people around here would keep their dogs on leashes. anyways just thought i'd share my story of how i spent my day LOL..she never eats her own poop.. but today i discovered she likes others poop lol:rolleyes: |
I hear ya. I love dogs but they sure can be gross sometime.. |
When I had my dairy farm I had a beagle cocker mix named Barney. That dog would eat anything, I won't even go into details. I can't believe he wasn't sick all the time. I don't know how much I spent on deworming meds.... |
Luckily mine does not eat dog poop. I think she ate cat poop once as it was in their bushes and I think she got a bite. She will eat bird poop off the sidewalk sometimes, but usually just a lick and I just tell her to leave it and we continue the walk. We always pick up her poo and it's not even big. It is especially gross when people leave BIG dog poop. |
My two have a daily helping of rabbit poop. They won't eat the kibble before we go out but boy do they enjoy the poop lol |
Welcome to the club no one ever wants to join. You will find sympathy here and support...and if Megansmomma ever comes back hopefully she can lead us to the cure...She is the Poop Eating GURU, she hasn't been here for awhile, I keep checking. |
most dogs will eat anything smelly laying on the ground. We live on a lake and have lot of racoons and geese, not only will they eat it they roll around in it. If I am gardening I put Lola near me on a tie out, but if I am going to be by the lake, I do a good sweep looking for geese poop to get rid of. Even after that she will still find the one piece I missed:D At times she must think her name is DON'T EAT THAT:D Not sure how you people with cats manage, when we had a cat it was a constant battle to keep my last yorkie from pulling the poop out of the litter box :( |
Lol glad to know im not the only one, what a mess it caused. Ill have to look around the yard from now on. The next door neighbors poodle runs loose alot and is always barking at the door ,she saw meesha before and mever forgot, odly enough the poodles name is meesha also, the owners always hollering for her..lol im assuming it was that dogs poop she ate, really wish people wouldnt let thier dogs roam. |

Gross! My two like to pick from the litter box, so I have to make sure it's always clean. |
I forgot about rabbit and deer poop. Whichever it is it comes in little pellets and she will somehow find it down in the grass and go to town. Not sure if she still likes it as much, but she sure did that first year! She also likes to roll around in heaven on her back. She does side bends on her back, pulling her legs up toward her shoulder while on her back, one side then the other. I never can find what it is she is rolling in though. |
i have to put a gate up for the my cat box.. punkee princess thought it was her snack box! ewwwww. cedric tries to get poopies while we walk as the neighbors dog thinks our yard is her toilet so im always saying NO DONT EAT THAT! HAHA. so glad im not the only one who has this issue. the poop eating series. yuck! |

LMAO!!! Now that you mention it, mine may think of themselves as LEAVE IT...hmmmm...lol We have automatic self-cleaning litter boxes but the cats have full access outdoors and rarely are stuck indoors and forced to dig in clay. lol I've never even seen the Yorkies interested in the litter box, which hasn't been used in months to be truthful...but wild critter poop deposited overnight in the yard...now that appears to be a delicacy when you can get it! Ick!!! They might even dig kitty cookies out of the dirt...I dunno...they dig and I stop them immediately! All I know is I watch them like a hawk for any sign they're about to eat something I wouldn't put on a plate. Plus we have Oak trees, and acorns...and people who chuck all kinds of refuse and cigarette butts and beer containers, etc. into our yard as they drive by...with their music blaring...and their fenders vibrating...lol |
