Raced to the Vet! I was so scared... My baby Lola had a seizure and I just about had a heart attack...she is ok. I thought she broke something and couldn't get up. She was on her back wiggling like she was trying to flip back over. I was so upset, I knew it was serious so I scooped her up in a blanket and raced to my doctor. I had no idea at all if they would be open but God was smiling on us because this is one of the two late nights they are open each week. By the time I got to the Vet...she was calming down but frightened, salivating and loopy. She perked up rather quick. They did X-rays and blood work to rule out spinal issues, low sugar, toxins and liver issues, they all checked out fine...which left seizure. Sometimes a dog can have one seizure and never ever have another...we will just have to wait and see. If it becomes chronic and frequent we will have to put her on preventative meds but right now we are going to wait and see.:exclaim::exclaim::exclaim: |

OMGoodness!! I'm glad she is ok. I hope she never has another. How are you holding up? Lots of snuggles and kisses for Lola tonight, and heartfelt hugs for you. |

You poor thing! And little Lola:( My Max has been having seizures since 10 weeks old. He was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. He's been taking phenobarbital since and has been doing exceptionally well. I know how scary it is. If you want to vet or chat feel free to PM me. It's very possible that this will be her only seizure. She needs rest now. The seizure activity probably made her very tired. |
I know your heart must still be pounding. Glad they did the tests and hopefully there will be no more. How scary. You were a good momma! |

The sleep will do her good. You need rest as well. A seizure takes a lot out of them...pets and people, too. My older son had 1 febrile seizure when he was about 2...open heart surgery at 3...my younger son had 2 febrile seizures at 15 months old...2 weeks apart...and quit breathing both times...had to be resusitated. One minute he was fine...the next seizing, blue, and not breathing! :eek: It's terrifying...you always fear 'the next one' even if it never occurs. I carried baby aspirin and a temp strip in my pocketbook until he was in his 20's and moved out...'course, I'm only 26 myself...lol Seriously, though, I really do hope it was a non-issue and you and she never have to go through that ever again! :xfingers::hands::hug60: |
Is there any chance she banged her head on something, or fell off the sofa and hit it? Hopefully she will be ok but I'm sure you will be on edge for a while watching her. |
Wow! Poor little baby. I'm glad she is doing ok and that all of her bloodwork turned out fine. Hopefully this is an isolated issue. |

OMgosh, it scared the daylights out of me just to read about sweet Lola. So glad her bloodwork looks good though. Sending prayers for your sweet baby, may this be the only time. Hugs to you both:hug: |
i am so sorry you and lola had to go through this. But at the same time im happy for you guys that its not spinal, LS etc. hopefully it will NEVER happen again |
