DBlain | 05-03-2012 11:44 AM | Neutering will not help, sometimes it is a learned behavior, sometimes it's lack of socialization or to be quite honest often it's their nature. I know this because I am on my 5th yorkie, my first and fourth hated other dogs, no amount of training,or socialization helped. Both were males and were neutered at 6 months of age and had lots of early socialization and no dogs ever tried to attack them. I got a bichon puppy when my first was around 3 or 4 years of age, the yorkie was so bad he even started biting me when he could not get the puppy, after about 6 months I finally rehomed the Bichon, and things went back to normal. My fourth one got worse each year, I thought his neck would break from the gyrations he would make when I would try to restrain him on a walk if we saw another dog, he would also bite me or the leash or anything in what seemed like real anger. I let my guard down once with a friend and her dog, a Weim, she lived one door away and both dogs knew each other from birth, both were on leashes, and my dog decided to lunge at hers, the outcome was not pretty and Kirby did not survive it. I hope your situation works out but if it was me I would be returning him or finding him a home with no other dogs. If the situation you described does not get better soon, noon of the dogs or you will be happy. Good luck |
