New to this site. Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm the mom of Macy Girl (aka Little Bit). She was rescued from a puppy mill when she was 1 1/2. After her rescue she was adopted by a couple who didn't know how to handle her and mistreated her. Now she's mine and she's my baby. I was always a "big" dog girl until Macy. Now I don't know what I'd do without her. Macy has always been shy and nervous and afraid of small kids but she has really come out of her shell beautifully. (I worked at a Physical Therapy clinic during my first year with Macy and she came to work with me every day) Last month she was diagnosed with a liver shunt. Since her diagnosis and the change in her diet, she is so much happier!!! She races around the house like a mad dog. It's one of the funniest things I've ever watched. Macy is now 5 years old and I joined this site to see if I can learn anything new that will continue to help her. |
WElcome to the site! and blessings to you for taking in this little girl |
Welcome! You will find several threads on LS. There are many people here that have first hand knowledge of LS. I hope that the diet change will continue to help. The only thing that I personally know about LS is that is sometimes needs to be corrected by surgery. |
I did know that LS sometimes needs to be surgically corrected but our vet thinks that as long as the diet change is helping that surgery isn't necessary right now. I hope that it stays that way! When she started showing symptoms it was the scariest thing I've had to deal with. |
Hi Welcome to YT!!!! :wavey: |
Hello and welcome, so glad that you gave her a home... |
Welcome to YT and you'll find a lot of useful info. on here. Glad to hear that Little Bit is doing better. :) |
Welcome:D!!! You're sure in the right place, there are lots of parents to LS pups here. I have no firsthand knowledge myself, luckily, but there are many here that do;) |
Welcome to YT. This is a very supportive comunity of dog lovers. I hope your Macy does wonderfuly on the special diet. My sister has a Chihuachua and Whoknows that was a rescue from the dog pound. The Vet thought she was at least 3 years old and was put on a special diet for LS. She has been with Sis for 8 years now ! I hope you story will be as joyful. |
God willing, Bitty will do just as well! |
Welcome to Yorkie talk. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! There is so much archived information here... you don't have to figure out how to care for a Yorkie all by yourself... I rescued my first Yorkie... didn't have a clue how to care for him or groom him... he lived thru it, and I did a lot of things right by intuition, but please, take the time to read thru the older threads on training and nutrition... the concepts and solutions don't change... you can learn a lot there. |
Thanks everyone! Macy is still doing fabulously on the LS diet and is thriving. I have spent alot of time looking into the older posts and have found much useful information. Thanks for all of your well wishes, they're much appreciated. |
Welcome to YT! I am so glad Macy is doing well:) |
