She choked on her rawhide! Lucky scared me to tears the other day when she began choking on a piece of rawhide at my parents' house. After a few terrifying seconds, she swallowed it and was fine. I'm not going to let her have rawhides anymore but I still need to know... What are you supposed to do when a dog starts choking? |
Bully sticks are the only thing I give mine and when they get small I throw them away. I don't allow mint to rawhides or greenies or pigs ears. I am glad shhe is okay...so scary! |
I am so glad your pup is better, When Bella chocked on a peice of hotdog and she was chocking i simply Held her face sown wards and banged her back, not hard but enough for it to come out. that was so scary. I am trained in CRP and first aid so the first thing that came to mind was to ferform what i would do to a infant if they were chocking. Well thats what i would do. |
That is sooo scary! I am glad she is ok! |
choking It is so scary. I used to give raw hides years ago..some have swallowed a piece too big and yelped until it went down. Twice I had to get a tail docking clamp and go down the throats to pull a piece out..one went limp and wasn't breathing, but gasped once I got it out...so never again. |
We've recently stopped giving the greenies and raw hides as well....partly because of what I've read on here and also because mine have nearly choked on them as well. Glad your baby is ok!! |

Rawhides, greenies and pig ears aren't allowed at my home anymore. Bully sticks are what we use now. |

Ha-ha! Kacee loves bully springs and bully sticks! She actually seems to prefer the bully springs 'cause they're little. But one of the 5 or 6-inch bully sticks lasts her forever........ |
