Sudden illness My male Yorkie is 6 years old and has always been in good health, except for the occasional bouts of diahrrea. Since this morning, however, he has been been vomiting as well as having diahrrea. The last bit of diahrrea had a pinkish hue to it. He has never been this ill. I took away his food and left him with water. He drinks the water but i'm not sure if he's able to keep it down. His behavior is otherwise normal (he still is eager to go for a walk). I'm not one to rush to the vet for any reason, and so am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. |
I'm sorry I don't have any advice.....I am one that rushes to the vet for everything, I won't take any chances with their health. I hope he feels better soon. |
Sorry to hear your little guy isn't feeling well. Vomiting and diarrhea can cause dehydration, especially if it continues. These little guys can go down really fast, so use your best judgment about going to emergency vet today. Check his gums often. If they are pale and sticky, I would go the vet immediately. The pinkish tinge in the diarrhea is probably blood (unless he ate something pink). Keep us updated. |

same here, i too go to the vet for just about anything. i hope your baby feels better soon... |
At least call your vet and ask if you don't want to take him in. But I think I would for sure take him. Good luck and keep us posted |

Praying and sending positive vibes for your baby to feel better fast! |
It's best not to take chances, especially with a small dog. They can become dehydrated so easily and that never has a good outcome. I would take him to the vet just to be safe. |
If he is still having diarrhea he needs to be seen. I'd get some purified or distilled water down him and get him to the vet as soon as possible. These things don't just start out of the blue. He may have gotten into something he should not have had. |
I understand... but this is not rushing for something little. He sounds sick, it maybe mild but how will you feel if it is serious? At least call. |
It sounds like he really needs to go to the vet. |
Sending prayers for your little one. |
Vomiting + Diarhea = high risk of dehydration in addition to what the underlying issue is = immedate vet visit is in order.. period |
