Hawks! ACK! This is something I worry about a LOT. We back up to a nature preserve and we have a lot of hawks and other large birds. Even in the back yard I keep Angel on a 15' lead just in case. How sad! My neighbor's Yorkie was attacked by a hawk. Luckily the Yorkie was large enough not be carried away, but he had to have extensive surgery. The hawk's talons ripped through his mid-section. :( This is why my boys never get to enjoy off leash time. Even on 30' leads, we often have hawks and black vultures (the kind that kill rather than scavenge) start circling and diving over us. |
Oh that poor thing. We have hawkes too, living in the woods surrounding our house. My babies never are outside alone. |
Aww so sad poor babies I don't let mine out either so many predators in waiting, now we have 2 huge dogs that just moved in our neighborhood and they are not friendly dogs..last week i seen one of them hold two young girls on the boatdock until its owner came running to get him and it wasn't their boat dock :eek: |
Look Up, Down and All Around Living in Florida and having Yorkies has made me turn into that Crazy Dog Lady who lives down the street. I was asked to give a 3 to 5 minuet talk about , how to keep your dog safe. It was supposed to be about Fl. basic problems like, heat stroke, dogs left in the car, outside wthout shade, enough water and getting hit by cars. I told the teacher I could give a longer talk about not only thoes common things but, the danger of: Alligators, large dogs running lose, hawks, owls, coyotes, fire ants, wasps, bees, venomus snakes, heart worms, fleas, ticks, wood scorpions, snapping turtles, the salt water ocean, sharks, jelly fish, poison toads too. Just getting started, I said, Children need to know to watch for trash tossed by careless people, toys on the floor and why they should not share candy and other food with a puppy, how to hold a dog,..... The teacher held up her hand to stop me and asked, how much can you cover in 1/2 an hour ? |
