Dog Park 4 Attachment(s) How many of you take your yorkie(s) to a dog park? ZoE is soooo excited to go there. As soon as we turn at the gas station, she knows where we are going. We've only had one negative experience there, when ZoE jumped on a bench to get away from dog that was snapping & growling at all the other dogs there in the park, and the snappy dog's owner, who was right by the bench ZoE jumped on, called her dog to her, then picked up her dog and held it face to face with ZoE (trying to make it be friends...) and the dog snapped at ZoE. Well, I lost it a little (<--- and by "little" I mean one HELLUVA lot on that dog owner) and we haven't seen her or her dog since. The majority of people there are really nice & friendly and have well-behaved dogs, and everyone picks up after their dog. We have a large dog area, a small dog area, two dog runs for personal off-leash training, and a water fountain for the dogs to splash in and cool off in the summer. There are also all around the dog park for walking, biking, rollerblading, etc. |
I take my two to the small dog section at our dog park, and they LOVE it. We have had awesome experiences there, and Couver and Khloe go bizerk when they know we are going. Couver loves to play fetch and Khloe likes to chase the other dogs. I love that they are good with other dogs because of the park and that they get so much exercise (we go about 4 times/week). We are members of the dog park society and have been since before we had a dog park. It's a great thing to take advantage of to have a happy, healthy and social dog. |
Callie loves the dog park but sense my mom got Sammy we haven't been because we are still training him not to snap at other dogs and he is so much better then he used to be. |
I take Buddy the Golden frequently but the Yorkies not so much maybe a few time a month. The dog park, near me 40 minutes each way, is not divided so big and little dogs are together. I never take Cozy she can be grumpy with people not dogs she does not know. Lucy gets a little scared and will hide it too many other big dogs are there. Zoey would stand her ground and bark at the other dogs as needed. Roxy thinks she is a Golden so she goes after every ball thrown. Most dogs I don't trust by my little ones so unless I know all the dogs really well the girls stay in the car or x-penned outside of the dog park- Still in line of sight. |
