Milo is way out from needing any serious grooming but I am already searching for groomers. I have read so much bad stuff about Petsmart I am afraid to take him there. |
I live in an area where there are a lot of groomers, probably at least 6 or more in less than a five mile drive, so I would never to go a chain store to have this done, not sure why so many others do. I also like to know the groomer and use the same one and the first few times stay and watch and if they have a problem with it, I tell them no problem that there are 5 or more of your competitors tht will to let me watch, that usually works. I really advise anyone to do that the first few times. I also go in peson to make the appointment, seems easier to accomplish what you want in person instead of over the phone. |

So true. Have a feeling this will work out for the pet owners( however neglected the pets might have been). There are way to many cases of rescues and vets who deal with neglected and heavily matted dog. Patience and time, rather than a churn and burn attitude is really all it takes. Saying this while not really knowing on the facts, of course. We groom at home. Its a learning process for us. Our boys still look handsome, but definitely no perfect(like they would like). I figure we will get better in time. |
Please check Mobile Groomers in your area. I use a mobile groomer at our home in Michigan and also one at our home in Florida. I like the fact that they are only grooming my dog in my drive-way. |

I too find the owner of the pet with cutoff ears less then believable based on the bit of info given in the article. How would it take you weeks to find out your dog had part of its ears taped on???????? You wouldn't notice your dog pawing at the ears - dogs always paw at tape - that's how you teach them some tricks. Not to mention the pain & then itching from the cut - didn't notice a thing from the dog's behavior to suspect something was wrong until they began to come untaped? What kind of tape will hold on a dog for weeks that you wouldn't be able to see or feel? And you wouldn't feel it on your dog's ears when you inspected them after grooming, daily inspections for ticks & fleas, during baths when they are wet and during petting, rubbing and cuddling? The owner's story is hard to accept based on the article. |

That whole story is more than a bit suspicious. Can't wait to see how it all comes out & hope we get to find out the whole story with both dogs. But that ear story just baffles me! I cannot imagine my dog coming back from grooming with parts of its ears taped on and me not knowing about anything going on with those ears or my dog being that injured for weeks!!! That just stretches credibility past the limit right now. |

I have a 2 1/2 year old male blue&gold furbaby named bandit and he is very difficult to groom thanks to a bad groomer that I made the mistake of taking him to at 6 months old. Aside from them not doing half of what I asked them to do they ruined his coat. I didnt take him back to a groomer for a short time because he would allow me to brush him out good but as his coat got longer he needed a haircut. I did finally find a really good groomer that has been in the business successfully for 46 years and she is the only one that can groom him and she is also getting him slowly to the point where he will not bite at the clippers or scissors. |
