Why does Biddy bark only at night??? Ok, so I'm an early bird. I go to bed at about 9ish with the pups. My fiance stays up until about midnight. When he comes to bed, Biddy barks her head off. At first I thought she didn't recognize him, but that's not the case. He now turns on the light and announces his presence when he comes into the bedroom - but she still goes bananas!! She jumps all over him and goes crazy. She doesn't do this any other time, except for the middle of the night...Help - I need some sleep!!! |
Sounds like she is being protective in a way....except that it does sound like she is very excited to see him :D . Does she "Hush" when you tell her? |
Maybe~ it's that she's groggy, half asleep, can't quite get a grip on the situation?? Bailey does it also, if he hears ANYTHING in the night, when he's been asleep, it takes him quite awhile to settle down afterwards. |
She's definitely excited to see him - but she is uncontrollable! She will not calm down for say 5 minutes - meanwhile my lazy boy Tucker sleeps through the whole thing! I wish I could ;) |

That's cause Tucker knows Biddy has guard duty covered :) If Trace is startled when sleeping he goes nuts or if I fall asleep on the couch....he barks at anyone who comes in....I always thought he was protecting me...ya mean, he's just excited cause someone came in??? |

Yeah, he's probably thinking - Finally someone who's not going to fall asleep on me!!!! |
Gidget does the same thing. She knows how it is so I think its a protective thing. When someone walks by the door and its open she goes crazy also. |

I stopped pretending I was going to stay awake by sitting on the couch and falling asleep a long time ago! Reality set in that I don't "have a life" and I started putting myself to bed earlier and ealier...LOL |
