Theriogenologist and Schools of Vet. Medicine I just spoke with the receptionist with the Purdue School of Vet. Medicine Small animal clinic ( Indiana). 1-765-494-1107. They do have a Therionologist/Reproductive Specialist on staff. They are available to see patients with a recomendation from your personal vet. I was also told that most Vet. schools of medicine should have one on staff. This will make it a little easier for you to track these folks down in your part of the country. Find the Vet School that is close to you and call and ask for their small animal clinic- they should be able to help you- ask if they have the specialist on staff. This will give you an option if you have concerns that you feel are not being answered by your regular vet and need a more help. Southern Cal provided the name of one who is located in MN- so we know of two places that we can go if we have questions and need help. There are more out there we just have to look. |

Admittedly, I had never heard of a Theriogenologist until joining this site...I wonder if they have them for humans too... :rolleyes: |
Don't you have one you use kathy? I think Robbie (Yorkiemom1970) uses one too.YorkieRini uses one I believe. I would think all breeders use them. :confused: |

LSU's School of Veterinary Medicine has a VTH&C with a specialized Theriogenology Unit. I didn't speak to anyone there about it but looked at their website to see if they offered the service. I have a relative that works as the IT (information technology) specialist for the Vet School. I knew there would be info online if I searched. |

I feel that I am in good hands- when they feel I need to go to Purdue they send me on my way with no dilly dally or they call and ask for advice and I am gave numerous options. They are not available in a lot of areas. Most are teachers at the vet schools and see patients who have been sent by other vets. |
Vet There is one in FT Lauderdale or Miami area??..a friend went to her..then I saw her on Animal Planet with Lourdes from the Dog show reality series.. I have never used one..never had any reproductive issues with mine..everyone has been quite fertile. |
If I have a question about something I think is important, I'll call my 3 vets. Are they Theriogenologist? Who knows if they specifically have that title, but they're great vets that I trust...not to mention a few of my seasoned breeder friends! Now, we do have a reproductive specialist here in town. His name is Dr. Randy Froehlich. I don't go to that clinic because it's at least $100 when you walk in the door. For those of us that live in the real world, money like that can't be dropped into a bucket like it's nothing. My other vets are much more reasonably priced and they are wonderful! |

if only i had been a vet myself....ahhhhh i do use a reproductive specialist, not just because of her profession but because i like her in general. she also treats all the regular issues that pet owners have on certain days of the week... there's 3 vets in a 5 mile radius of my home which is un-real, but it seemed like they just started popping up everywhere. (one has been here for yrs and yrs) i used a regular vet for years until emily started her own practice 2 miles from my home, guess i got lucky, otherwise i wouldnt have a clue what a reproductive speacialist is. but after getting to know her and and learning SO much from her, i now couldn't live without her. my old vet was always kind-of straight to the point, and dry with me. he was a good vet, dont get me wrong, just no personality with his clients. emily and i actually call each other back and forth on our cell ph's when i'm concerned over anything. that's what i always wanted in a vet. a true dedication and compassion towards my animals, not just after my wallet... |
