Cedric is Very Mad at his Mommy  yesterday we went to look at what i thought was a 3 year old yorkie girl that was up for adoption. The only history i got was she was turned over from a breeder, 2 years worth of vet records (She will be 5 in October) and she was not spayed until January of this year so leaves me wondering. I was told she never had a litter but her sister whom was there with her did. So I couldnt leave her there she is such a cutie and I so badly wanted to take her sister with us but my dh said lets go one at a time and we can come back for Gabby if we get Cedric and Princess to adjust..... We get home and Cedric just about hit the roof with jealousy. Im very worried but at the same time I know it is going to take a month or two to adjustment. Telula is her name. Shes a bit smaller than Cedric which I was hoping she was a lil bigger but she is a doll. She also has leather ear which I am working on trying to clear up. I'm not sure she ever had a bath either or it has been a long time cause she just didnt know what to do or how to react. They shaved her but its like the worse shave job I have ever seen and I say they cause I didnt ask who did it. She never used stairs so I have no idea what shape her knees are in. She walks fine but I'm gonna have the vet check her out to be sure shes doing ok health wise. She did come with a health certificate from the January visit stating there were no underlying problems that they found. I'm teaching her to use them but shes not very fond. She sleeps in her crate like an angel and doesnt make a peep. I have a feeling she spent a lot of time in a crate. She has not said a word at all since we arrived to meet her. Anyway once I can get her comfortable I'll try and get a pic. Shes nervous still which is completely understandable especially with my Cedric acting like a furr brat and not having her sister around. I emailed today to check on Gabby and see hows shes holding up without her sister. Awaiting a respone. Just keep us in thoughts and prayers for accpetance and that her ears heal up a bit. I'm perplexed how someone could just leave the babies ears like that.........baffles me. Well I'm gonna do all I can to treat her right and give her the best of life. I hope her real personality comes out someday. I was sick with worry thinking I did the wrong thing but in my heart I saved a baby and I have faith they will all adjust. Plus if we ever find a foster Cedric is going to need to be able to deal with doggies coming and then going to their furrever home. Thanks for letting me vent!!! Hope you all have a fabulous rest of your day. |
Awww, how sweet of you to bring her into your home! I hope Cedric will adjust quickly. I'm sure once they warm up to each other they will see how fun playmates can be! Oh I hope! I know they'd have fun together. I want to rescue a yorkie so bad but the hubby isn't sure. I'd love to give one a good home and love on them! |
I hope so too Aymee. This was my main reason for looking for a playmate as Princess could care about playing. She sleeps and eats and walks. lol Cedric is a ball of playing fire. |
I sure hope it all works out. She probably is just stressed out right now - but five is not too old to play! Since you're already a multiple dog owner - you already know that it can take some time for everyone to adjust. I wish you the best of luck and thank you for giving this girl a good home. |
Telula is a very lucky little girl to be in your loving care now. :) Be patient with Cedric. Maximo was jealous when we brought his 8 month old brother home. He liked Teddy, but didn't want us picking up Teddy or showing him attention. Some things were worked out in the first couple days, others took a couple of weeks, and the last hurdles took a few months (like sleeping in the bed together). Make sure you put Cedric first for everything -- greeting him, giving treats, putting food bowls down, and so on. Take Cedric for walks or outings alone with you and give him extra attention. Intervene only when necessary for safety or truly bad behavior. Otherwise, let the dogs work things out among themselves and just try to gently direct their attention toward positive activity. Doing things together like trick training and having chews and walks helped my guys bond. Best wishes! |
Thank you so much Maximo I will follow this advice. Much appreciated. It's just hard to mix up the pot but hey thats the spice of life right!! lol :D http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...hreeBabies.jpg My daughter Tallulah (her real name is Taylor but I have called her this since she was a baby), she is calling Telula lula instead cause shes a lil jealous that Telula has her name. Her subject line was we are getting along mom we promise. Cedric is attached to Princesses Diva bed see he even has to posses what is his other sisters. lol  Telula is up in the chair on her new bed. |
Awe what a cutie and bless you for saving her. Prayers for harmony in your home :). |
AWWW Bless you for adopting this sweet girl. I tell you my adopted babies have given me so much love. It will take a few weeks for them to adjust. She is so cute. |
Give them some time and I'm sure they will be best buddies soon. You can try Lotrim on her ear. It worked when my Sammy had leather ear. Good luck and congratulations! |
