Stroller in stores?
 

I am planning on getting a dog stroller for my new puppy. Is it ok to take it in a store if the dog is zipped up inside the stroller? I don`t want to leave her alone.

I would wait until she has all her shots. I would not take any chances.

I waited until Pnut was 12 weeks till I took him out and about.

The general rule of thumb is if the store sells food you can't take the dog in even in a stroller. Something about health issues :rolleyes:
I've heard lately that Home Depot & Lowes have now decided no dogs allowed too. If in doubt, ask, I'm sure it won't take long to find out which stores/shops allow it & which don't.

Good question! I'd like more info on this too. I've been looking for strollers. Right now our lowes allows ks in with us, but I have heard their rule is changing. Other than there, we only take her in pet stores and a local store called surplus city. They love her there. I do wish there were more pet friendly stores!

I too would love more pet friendly stores, I love taking mine with me and I will not leave them in the car, even if the weather is fine I worry that someone would steal them.

Most malls allow pets in strollers. I even ran into Dillards with Jazi but she wasn't in the stroller. I carried her.

I was thinking a stroller would be great for the mall. We have an outlet mall not far from here that is completely pet friendly.

Aiyana and Benji love their stroller! I go all over with mine - there's quite a few pet friendly stores in Vegas! Lowes and Home Depot here still allow dogs as long as they can be carried or in a cart, thrift shops, dollar stores, boutiques, plenty of options! Benji often rides in my purse - my Italian Greyhound, Aiyana is actually also my registered service dog so she even goes Grocery shopping with me.

Where did you get a stroller? I want one for Ryder!

ebay has the cheapest price strollers I have seen.

That's where I got my first one - it was garbage, after that got one at a dog show and it's lasted forever! I'd look at the brand of anything on EBay and look up reviews so you don't throw your money away.

I've been into every store in our Santa Maria Mall with my girls in their stroller many times and have never had a problem. The only stores that won't allow it are Wal-Mart, Target and any grocery store or resturant. (or any store that sells food) The stroller is a life saver, and a way that we can take our girls with us all the time.

If anyone ever wants a stroller, I do not carry them, but i can get them, and I can just sell them to you all at wholesale cost, i did that for a friend and it was much cheaper (:

My daughter recently vacationed in Paris. She was excited to tell me that they dined in a restaurant with a poodle sitting on a chair at the table next to them. She remarked that maybe I should move to Paris. :D

Ive taken Pnut in our inside mall, walmart, home depot, lowes, walgreens, cvs, all in his stroller!

Or she could move to the Florida Keys:) We have dined at several resturants with Remy!! One time we asked very meakly if we could bring her .. it turned out there were about 10 dogs already there:eek: I think it is often allowed at resturants that have outside seating.

I have a stroller I bought off ebay. Dont take the kiddies much in it lately and since Jack took his serious almost fatal jump out of it. I have pushed him around in house with it after the incident so he would not be afraid of it. Bless his little heart.

Glad to hear lot of inside malls allow them. Never thought of that.

I have taken them into Home Depot and Lowes here and had no problems.

I was in Lowes this week-end and seen 2- different ladies with their little poochies.

Best buy here in mesquite allows them in as long as their feet never touch the floor or they don't start barking (Darby is a barker and never gets to go anywhere because of it). Mostly we leave them home since we have 4.

This is good to know. I have several friends with homes in the Florida Keys. We hesitate to visit because we don't want to leave Bailee behind.

I think it all depends in what part of the country you live in . We have a house in Florida and in that area it is VERY pet friendly. But up here in Mass, the only place I know that allows dogs is pet stores. I wish more places would become pet friendly.

Europe is much more dog friendly, I think it was Switzerland the first time I realized how they allow dogs to walk right into restaurants. I was looking a lady with a standard poodle lying at her feet under her table. The lady smiled at me, and I said, OMG the blind lady just smiled at me! I assumed that the poodle was a seeing eye dog:D

I think a lot of places have rules that say no dogs and you will see it posted at their front door. However often salepeople will look the other way when it comes to small purse dogs, so I tend to chance it. I took Lola into Joanne's in a sling purse with just her little head peaking out and no one said anything, the gals at the cutting table were even making a fuss over her, then some other clerk, could have been the mgr, came over and gave me a tongue lashing about didn't those girls waiting on me tell me pets are not allowed and there is a sign on the door that says so. I said I saw that sign but it was a picture of a big dog standing on a leash, so why would I think it applied to a 5 lb dog carried in a purse. Since she was so nasty I could not resist it and I said didn't anyone tell you that you should be nice to your customers? however if you would like me to leave now, you can take my cut fabric and put it on the clearance table, or if you prefer I will quickly finish my purchase. I left with the fabric, I realize they have a job to do and if she was nice about it my attitude would have been different. I guess it is hard for them to make rules about pets since I do not want a bunch of big dogs walking all over store and restaurants. I never tried the stroller approach but if the dogs are zipped in and not seen I know it would work, and LOL I could just see the person's face when the say oh let me see your little baby:D:D:D

this reminds me of an I love Lucy episode, Lucy is flying home on an airplane home from Italy or someplace where she wants to bring home a huge full salami or ham. She wraps it up like an infant, Rickey will not sit next to her so she winds up next to a lady also with an infant, well most of the episode is the lady and the flight attendant trying to find out about the "baby" and get a look at it. I always think about this when I read the threads about strollers and wonder how many of you have people look inside thinking you have a baby, it would make for a good candid camera episode.

I hate I missed this thread, I had found a stroller (At my daughters request) for Corky, Well let say he would have much rather run. I just sold it.
