The pancake plop! 3 Attachment(s) Hi everyone! I've been lurking these forums for a while now (the posts in here are a life saver for a new yorkie mommy) and I finally decided to join in on the fun. I have a six month old yorkie named Cocoa, and I noticed that he likes to sit/sleep in a funny way (he plops down like a pancake, as my friend put it). Sometimes he'd be sitting upright and then he just lets himself slide back until he's pancaked again. Do any of your yorkies sit in the same way? And will he outgrow it? I hope not! I'm including some photos, with one before his first grooming. |

Oh my he is so cute. My moms yorkie lays like, that mine doesn't but we think its so funny when my moms yorkie does it. |

Gracie does that sometimes. In particular when she is hot she will lay like that on the stone kitchen floor to cool off. My Shih Tzu used to lay like that a lot. |

Welcome and good looking pup. My first Yorkie used to do it when he would get overheated. He would lay like that with his belly against the cool tile. I haven't seen my puppy Milo do it yet, maybe when he is older. |
Hello and welcome to YorkieTalk! :) Cocoa is a cutie and I love his pancake plop! He looks happy and comfy in the pictures you posted. I have a four month old Yorkie and she does not do the pancake plop but when she sits her bottom will slowly slide away from her front paws and she has to readjust herself. We have hardwood floors throughout the house so unless she is on something (bed, lap, couch, pee pad, etc.) she is constantly trying to sit back up...she may just decide to do a pancake plop like Cocoa one of these days too! |
Chewie is two years old, and he lays like that all the time. We call it frog legs here too! He does it when he's hot, or chewing on something, or just because. It cracks me up every time! |
